Casa Cantadora

I can highly recommend you to stay at Casa Cantadora if you want to stop somewhere around Ambasmestas. It have been one of my best Camino experiences so far. Really nice and cozy place. Knut the owner is an amazing host and cook delicious food. He and the house are a spiritually and there is meditation every night at 20. The location with a nice house and garden going down to the river where you can relax. It was fully renovated last year and this year is first year open, so it is also nice and in good condition. And if it does not fit in your walk to stay there for the night, then stop by during the day. He serves delicious breakfast (yogurt with muesli, omelette and bread with several cheese options), lunch or coffee and cake in the garden or at the river.

My husband and I stayed a night here while walking the Camino and it is without doubt the most welcoming house we stayed in. To be greeted with tea, coffee and cake (the best carrot cake I’ve eaten which Knut made himself) after a long walk was such a treat. Knut really cares about the food he provides which is all delicious and healthy. We normally skip breakfast as it’s usually very average but when we heard what he offered for breakfast we were in Camino heaven. At last we were able to have something healthy and delicious! Greek yogurt, muslei, fruit, omelette , cheese and the nicest brown bread ! Exactly what we needed to fuel us for the steep walk up to O’Cebriero. We can’t recommend staying here enough !

Awesome experience, great place to stay along the Camino. Very warm environment and cool vibe. Food is great, beds comfortable, bathrooms super clean.Knut the owner will look after you well. Bonus meditation session at 8pm was awesome experience. A must on the Camino. Highly recommend.

This hostel raised the bar by a few notches. You just have to walk into the foyer to realise that you have stepped into a special place. The coziness of the decor- made by the host (Knut) himself- , the warmth of the stove burning away and the overall energy of the place just draw you in. The prices are more than fair: 15 euro for the bed and 15 euro for dinner (if you want). The dorms are spacious and pristine. Same for the toilets . The veggie dinner was the best meal I had in the camino - simple and yet vibrant and filling. For breakfast you can have as much coffee or tea as you want. Then you can decide whether to just pay 2 euro for beautiful homemade cake or Danish pastries or 10 euro for the full breakfast. Yogurt , oats , cheese and other Scandinavian delicacies which will charge you with power for the walk . The outside is just as magical ✨️. A chill out area in the river's bank- under the fig trees , and a little chapel , if you need a moment of prayer or contemplation . That for me was an unscheduled stop , but an unforgettable one. That's the enchantment of the Camino , I guess .

This place is quite unique. As we entered the Albergue we could immediately feel a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The house is full of positive energy. The source of this energy comes first and foremost from the the owner who has made this Albergue to something very special. You feel love everywhere and in all the details. Rooms and beds are great and the food is delicious based on many local ingredients. You will not be disappointed on this part for sure. Just to mention one thing. Breakfast was without any doubt the best we have had on the whole Camino. Try it out - you will not be disappointed with the homemade marmalades and egg dishes 😋
