Pensión Begoña

Stayed in a triple room at Pension Begona. ROOMS 4/5 Rooms were spacious with 3 single beds lined up in parallel rows. Despite the decoration and layout of the rooms being very simple, we love the fact that it is precisely simple and extremely clean. They provide all that is needed. Only downside is that there are no lifts so for elderly who stay in the 2nd floor, you may have difficulty carrying your luggage up. Although the front counter staff was very helpful and offered to help us. Alternatively if you have a wheelchair, fret not as they have a wheelchair elevator device to bring you from ground floor to the 1st floor. BATHROOM 4/5 The bathroom was also very spacious and it provided basic amenities like shower gel, hair dryer, towels. LOCATION 5/5 Location is great as it is right smack in the middle of town. So no major detours required. FOOD 4/5 If you opt for dinner to be included, you will be given a meal voucher at the restaurant next door which had homemade Spanish grandmother style cooking, was very delicious. Breakfast was a buffet style spread with sufficient variety of cold cuts, bread, yoghurt, cereal, coffee, tea, fruits, pastries. Overall, recommended for those who want a no frills clean and simple place to stay.

I can't sleep due to odd smell. The blanket & bathroom has its own very uncomfortable smell. Owing to bad smell, clean room seems to be just unused...... I opened windows all night and thrived with the cold. A really bad experience. And at the morning, the hostel claimed about my Google rating and kicked me off from the breakfast room. She demanded me to learn Espanol and she said "I can't speak English and the smell is from you!!." I paid yesterday all money as she demanded (without the bill) and throw 6€ on my table. What happens?? I will send a mail to Spanish Government Tourist Agency department. No bill.

Thank goodness for the lovely ladies at Pension Begoña in Arzua. They took me in when an ATM ate my bank card, carried my bag to my room, as I was in tears. Then the next day when I didn't get my card back and was in tears again, they made me coffee and gave me digestive biscuits. They patiently waited while I sorted my money situation out and were just so kind. The Pension Begoña is fantastic anyway - clean, modern, good location, with everything you need - but their kindness just... it's part of why I love the camino. It gave me hope and kept me going. I highly recommend the Pension Begoña (just don't use the atm in the bank downstate).

Normal pension. It does not have an elevator, the establishment is not to blame since we went with a reservation from the travel agency that arranged the Camino de Santiago for us. They didn't warn us and when we arrived, after 30km of walking, we had to carry our suitcases up the stairs... Otherwise it is normal, well located, clean.
