The place is good, don't get me wrong, but I noticed some predatory practices that I didn't like therefore the two stars. For example, there is no stove in the kitchen to force you to eat in the restaurant. When I kindly asked them to boil some eggs, they charged me two euros for boiling eggs. The eggs didn't cost 2 EUR themselves 😆
Albergue Cuatro Cantones in Belorado offers fair value for a low-cost hostel during the Camino de Santiago. The communal bathrooms could benefit from better maintenance and cleaning. However, the hostel provides useful services such as laundry and a good restaurant with a pilgrim menu, enhancing the stay. It's a great place to meet other pilgrims, share experiences, and enjoy a good wine. The check-in process could be quicker, which would be appreciated after a long day's walk when all you want is a quick rest and a hot shower.
Pro: Good central location, rooms not overcrowded, good bathroom, very good restaurant dinner. Con: Charged my card in home currency rather than Euro without asking (they do this to skim off exchange rate margin), no toilet paper (!), lukewarm shower, expensive. Summary: Can find better value elsewhere.
The food was delicious and cooked to perfection. The dorms where unique, clean and comfortable. The staff were warm and friendly. If there was a 6 star option I'd give it 6. It was only 28 euro for 2 people and we had a full dorm to ourselves. There is a big garden with a swimming pool and excellent facilities to cook.
Not only my best meal of the camino, but maybe the best ribs I ever ate!
