This was one of the worst experiences on the Camino - usually I don’t leave reviews but as a woman I feel responsible to let others know I didn’t feel safe and my friend either. The owner is definitely not doing this in the spirit of the El Camino, he was shouting and ordering us, coming into our room at 6:30 in the morning while we were literally in the bed waking up, opening the windows, moving our stuff around etc. He said we need to leave by 7:30 and at 7:15 he was shouting from downstairs again - very discouraging and uncomfortable experience. Be safe ladies.
very nice meal and all in all a fantastic vibe! He is very nice, but have his rules and you have to follow them. He made all paintings himself.
Don't listen to the gloomers. This is a unique and quirky experience with an authentic feel. More adventurous than the typical hostels, or even the ones that try to be quirky. The owner is an artist, in the sense that he does not fit preconceptions. The rooms are more B&B style than dorms, just two in my room but same price as dorm, tons of room, and his food is plentiful and healthy
I don’t typically give bad reviews, but I have to share my experience on this one. My mom and I were walking the Camino during a very busy time and reserved two beds here over the phone. The receptionist told us for reservations we would have to arrive by 4 PM. We called the day of to confirm and he said again, arrive by 4. Got there at 3:30 and he had given away our beds. He had done the same for about six other people with reservations. When we asked him why he just shrugged, said “lo siento” and offered to drive us to the next city. But by that time, everything was fully booked. We were all furious and shocked to see that behavior on the Camino. Make of that what you will, but be careful making reservations here, and if you have to, arrive early.
I stayed here some time ago so this is a late review, but I really liked this albergue. It was pouring rain when I arrived early, and the host was gracious and welcoming Then later we all had a really hearty shared meal. Not to be put off by the naysayers. The owner is intelligent and straight-talking, which may put timid people off, but I really enjoyed the conversation. The guy is smart and spiritual, both.
