1 / 5 Total negative experience (the worst along my Camino):
1) Single rooms definitely too dirty... many dead and alive insects and spider nets everywhere... the lady at the reception had no solution for this, but said that "there's a clearance beneath the doors and insects enter from there. It is the nature"...
2) Single rooms smell of damp...
3) the lady at the reception might be very rude for many reasons: (A) apparently pilgrims should arrive before 3 pm, as the receptionist works also in another hotel and she has to move from there. This rule is not written on the Internet, nor mentioned during the reservation call; (B) if you have no cash, but want to pay with a card, that's a problem: the receptionist gives you a piece of paper with the total amount and you have to go and pay in the hotel Piedras Blancas, run by the same owner; (C) Internet connection too weak at the reception, and for registering the receptionist lady needs the pilgrim pass which usually is saved on your phone, so she takes your phone and walks at the opposite side of the premises to find field... after a couple of minutes, she comes back; (D) if you speak no Spanish, the receptionist lady might be very pissed off as you make her waste time, repeating things
Finally, there's no refund if you complain about the insects... I changed albergue anyway, even losing money and I don't regret
1 / 5 Just don’t. We did not stay as the man and woman who begrudgingly greeted us barely acknowledged us making us stand in wonder what was going on while they went about their cleaning duties. When they finally did acknowledge us, we asked the man if it might be possible to set up a tent in the yard. (Always happy to accept a no answer but his response was laden with emphatic “no’s” while he went about his sweeping duties never once looking us in the eye.
We did not feel welcome at all and left.
We stayed at the pension in town and had a very lovely time with amazing staff.
After a very long and hot day on the Camino, the pension is the kind of warm welcome you want.
4 / 5 We had a good stay. Double room for 30Euro was good value. There are several individual rooms and a dormitory. From the individual rooms you have to walk outside to the bathroom- no problem for us as we had good weather but could be a pain on a bad day. Nice garden with loungers to relax if weather is good. Outdoor laundry and lines. Rudimentary kitchen. Bathroom basic. Manager didn't have much English and just did the basics. Summary: Good place to stay on a nice day.
4 / 5 After reading some negative reviews I feared the worst. Some confusion over my booking which was sorted fairly quickly. Double room very spacious, basic buy clean and tidy, with en-suite. Plenty of space to hang washing and nice garden and kitchen.
1 / 5 Absolutely 100% has bed bugs!! Ended up breaking my Camino rule and took a cab to Leon so I could be treated. Currently fumigating everything I own. Had to get a prescription for the bites.
