Fantastic mix of modern renovation and fidelity to local architecture. Rooms were beautifully decorated and fully equipped and clean. Breakfast was perfect. We cannot recommend this place enough.

Mathias & Marjory are wonderful! Everything perfect in the rooms. This place is in a great location and has wonderful views from their garden.

If you like contactless hotels, this is the place for you. You can check in and out using the lockbox code that she'll give you (and if you need to talk to her, she also runs the ice cream shop this hotel is attached to) Location is impeccable, right on the cutest walking street in town just a matter of seconds from the Camino Pilgrims Office. Also....please please do not miss out on the view from the top of the backyard courtyard stairs!! SO amazing and beautiful, I felt like I was in a painting of the French countryside. Stay itself- the building seems very historical but super clean. I could smell how clean it is as I walked in and the shower seems very newly renovated. The only discomforts were having to ask for water (turns out you can drink tap water here and it's delicious)+ the room was cold and the heat didn't seem to work the best (or maybe I just didnt know how to work the controls) The breakfast was great, already set up for us when we went to the upstairs common area in the morning. Overall would definitely stay here again ESPECIALLY for that view from the top of the courtyard stairs

We LOVED this place! The rooms were immaculate & well-furnishes. Beautiful decorations with a careful eye to detail & whimsy. Incredibly kind host. Responded quickly to text/email and was very helpful. The backyard garden is GORGEOUS with lovely rooms. Overall, very charming! A perfect start for our El Camino trek!

It offers a perfect blend of beauty, comfort, and convenience. We were captivated by the property's beauty as soon as we entered. The hotel exudes a sense of thoughtful design, and every corner speaks of the care and attention to detail that has gone into its creation. Its central location is ideal, making it a convenient base from which to explore the picturesque surroundings. Our room was a haven of cleanliness and aesthetic pleasure. It was beautifully appointed, radiating a warm and welcoming atmosphere that made us feel immediately at home. The bed was exceptionally comfortable, ensuring a restful night's sleep after our day's adventures. What truly sets Maison d'hotes E. Bernat apart is the proprietor and handy-person, Matthias. His dedication is evident in the impeccable remodeling work that adds a unique charm to the hotel. It’s clear that Matthias has poured his heart and soul into this place, and it shows in every polished detail. The breakfast was another delightful experience. Served with care, it was nourishing and a feast for the eyes, perfectly complementing our overall experience at the hotel. Our visit to St. Jean Pied de Port, initially a spontaneous decision after our time in Biarritz, turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip, largely thanks to our stay at Maison d'hotes E. Bernat. This hotel is more than just a place to stay; it is a destination, promising a memorable experience to all who visit. We cannot recommend it highly enough and look forward to returning in the future.
