1 / 5 Avoid and scramble!
I would have paid double to stay in any other place. I booked a king size bed with breakfast, and ended up with 2 single beds and no breakfast included, despite showing the receptionist the screenshot of my booking, including breakfast and the photos of the room. She said these photos are outdated, and if I want breakfast, it'll be 10 extra euros per person, but "you must decide now because I'm closing at 5pm"...
Room had not even the basics that one can expect from a hotel: no curtains, no shutters (see photos) and the outside of the hotel looks like it hadn't been cleaned in years. Wallpapers, paint, and carpets were from the middle ages at best, and there were cracks all over the door frames and plaster work.
Little did I know that the entire hotel will be left unattended for the rest of the night and the whole of the Sunday, apart from a cleaning lady.
The restaurant was never opened over the entire weekend, the reception had closed soon after our check-in and never reopened. We left the keys to the cleaning lady on the way out.
5 / 5 Wonderful hotel. Great location in SJPDP, close to everything needed, perfect room to relax. Great breakfast to start the day, then a few minute walk to the Camino de Frances start. Very picturesque.
5 / 5 Very comfortable and quiet. Oddly staffed only very intermittently. Great location.
5 / 5 You can't ask for a nicer place. Just up from the train station and right outside the walled city entrance for the start of the Camino and the Pilgrim Office. The service was perfect and although I can't speak French they were patient and polite.
7min walk in a straight line is a huge supermarket and a sporting goods store so you are well covered.
4 / 5 Nice clean room and comfortable bed, very good service. Quite spacious. Everything I need work well - shower, aircon. I arrived late, just as reception was closing, but Yoric was cheerful and helpful, providing a safe storage space for my bike. Great view from my window.
