Albergue Villares de Orbigo

It's one of those places that stick in my memories of the camino ...for the best of reasons. Martinette is an excellent host. She was very hospitable, cooked us a lovely camino meal which we shared with two other 'pilgrims' (the soup was divine!) - the conversation was engaging with generous quantities of wine. The accommodation is a lovely old style farmhouse with a central courtyard. It has been sympathetically renovated and tastefully decorated. It was comfortable, very clean and pristine. I know you will be moving on, I wish you luck in your new ventures.

If you're looking for a place that feels like it’s been pulled straight from the pages of a whimsical storybook, look no further than Albergue Villares de Órbigo. Imagine wandering into a cottage where the décor is so perfect, even the flowers look like they've been handpicked by woodland creatures. The rooms are so clean and cozy, you half expect the bed to make itself with a wave of a magic wand (but no, you'll still have to tuck those sheets in). The little touches here are straight out of a pilgrim’s dream—a tiny bottle of shower gel that will make you wonder if you've shrunk, and earplugs, because even in fairy tales, someone snores. The bathrooms? They sparkle like they've been scrubbed by Cinderella before the ball. But the real magic at this albergue is Martinette. She's not just a hostess; she's like the fairy godmother you didn't know you needed. Her smile is so warm, you’ll swear it raises the room temperature by at least 5 degrees. She’s the kind of person who knows every pilgrim's name and probably their shoe size too. And the locals? They adore her—if this town had a mayor, it would probably be her. Stay here, and you’ll feel like a character in the best story ever written. Highly recommended—because, let’s face it, where else can you find fairy tale vibes *and* free earplugs?

By far the best hospitality we encountered on the Camino (I’m writing this after finishing). Definitely worth the extra walk from Hospital de Órbigo. Martinette, despite owning the property for just a few months, was a seasoned host. She cooked a delicious dinner of pumpkin soup, pasta carbonara, and salad. The albergue is clean, nicely decorated, and has a great garden with hammocks. My only recommendation would be to provide a top sheet or duvet and nicer pillows in the private rooms.

We stayed there in April. It was so lovely and the owners were very hospitable. we had an unforgettable evening together , with a lot of different nations( insider: 2 Euro 😉) The meal was great and also the breakfast. Best of the camino. Andrea and Armin 😊

A beautiful Albergue run by beautiful people. The hosts could not have been kinder to us. We stayed an extra night for a rest day. Food was great, rooms are lovely and the atmosphere is wonderful. Definitely my favourite Albergue so far.
