4 / 5 I stayed here for 1 night while walking the Camino del Norté. All the staff were extremely lovely, kind and attentive. The manager (or owner) was amazing! She had such a friendly and inviting attitude and you can tell she loved her place.
The food for dinner was also very good and the establishment has a quirky vibe.
The beds were so extremely comfortable.
My only negatives were that my room was extremely warm, with no air conditioning. There was a fan though, which helped. And if you missed lunch, no food is served again until 8pm, which is late when you have to be up early to hike a very long trek.
However, the dinner was good and the breakfast was nice too.
I had a lovely stay, mainly because of the friendly staff!
5 / 5 Great place - and it should be said a short 20 min walk from the town NOT ALONG THE BUSY MAIN ROAD! But along the river
5 / 5 Excellent place to stay for pilgrims walking El Camino del Norte. The rooms are comfortable, and the hotel has a restaurant with traditional Basque cuisine and also serves pizza.
5 / 5 We loved this hotel. So much character and history. Fantastic food in the lovely restaurant. Really helpful and happy staff especially Iker who always had a smile and taught us some Basque. Anna was really helpful - finding us veggie restaurants and sorting out our activities. I don’t usually write reviews but this place really deserved one. Thank you to the whole team.
1 / 5 The young lady who checked me in was great. I can tell she is aiming to do a good job. However, my interaction with the lady who checked me out, the molding shower, and the lack of laundry are the reasons I am giving it 1 star.
The shower needed to be cleaned better. There were mold spots. The hotel also listed on Booking.com that laundry was available, but when I inquired, I was told no laundry was available.
When I was ready to check out, I rang the bell and no one came so I had to go find someone which was annoying. Once I found the lady who would check me out after the bartender to me she was the boss, the lady sat at the table with her head down. Closing her eyes must have made her deaf, because when I approached the table and said "Excuse me" she acted like she couldn't hear me. In fact, she didn't acknowledge me and kept her eyes closed. When she opened her eyes, she didn't render any greeting or pleasantries, she just looked at me. I told her I was ready to check out. Instead of speaking to me directly, she turned to some random girl I never met in my life and asked her if I was with her. This whole interaction felt like I was back in the USA where people of color are treated poorly, but I never expected that in Spain. Even if this woman claims it wasn't about race, then it just makes her a 🐝itch for treating me that way. Either way. I would not stay at that place again.
