There was a bedbug on the pillow waiting for us on arrival 🥲 On arrival, the lady there was nice enough but speaks very little English and when we spoke in Spanish to her she pointed to her ear to tell us she was deaf. We then tried to use Google translate and she told us she couldn't see and had no glasses. We told her we needed to get the airport shuffle that was advertised with the booking and she shrugged at us and walked off. This was all before we even got into the room so by time we seen the bedbugs we couldn't be bothered to even discuss this with her. We were tired having just finished the Camino and just wanted a shower and a clean bed so we immediately booked somewhere else on booking.com and left after 20 minutes. We paid €55 for Hostal Forest and then another €80 for the other booking. We raised this through booking.com in the hopes that we could have a refund given that we hadn't stayed because the room wasn't fit for purpose. We didn't get a refund but they gave us €10 🙈😂

Great place very close to Santiago Cathedral. The lady owner is a lovely lady who could not have been more helpful. I'd stay there again without hesitation. Highly recommend.

One star is given is for location and price. The rest is a total failure. I had a single bed with a bathroom, only problem was the stench/smell of septic/sewer coming in from the bathroom. The smell was soooo bad I almost left, found out if I kept the bathroom door closed the smell would diminish. Looking out the window was even worse, look like it was used for trash, later I saw the cleaning lady retrieving linen from what looked like a "close" in the filthy "well".

Montse (the manager/chef/cleaner/ receptionist) and Avelina (owner) are amazing women that make Hostal Forest feel like home. The building is historic, with clean, cosy rooms. Great value for money. Advantages and disadvantages to the rooms you might stay in... rooms looking out on the plaza are brighter with possible views of the cathedral, but noisier at night. Interior rooms are darker but quieter, which might be what you want after walking the Camino. The bar is a nice place to hang out in with a cold beer, and Montse makes great food. Enjoy your stay!

Nice place to stay. Rooms looks exactly like on Booking.com. Nice bed and all required furniture. Located right next to the cathedral (150m). Restaurant is directly nextdoor.
