5 / 5 After completing the Camino del Norte, I just needed a convenient and peaceful place to stay—and this was the perfect choice. No interaction with other guests, so privacy was maintained. Close to everything, with a plaza view and a nice cafeteria. Great seating area. It was still a bit cold without the sun, and I saw people moving around, searching for sunny spots.
4 / 5 We love this place. Lively and outstanding balcony views. Great service, easy check in and although the rooms have no AC, it was still very comfortable. Being over the restaurant it is not for those needing silence to sleep. Personally we liked the noise and atmosphere!
2 / 5 although the staff is kind, hygiene is a problem in this hotel. the cushions had white and brown stains on the sheets. don’t book the small room because you will hear absolutely everything that happens in the hall, even whispering. it’s extremely noisy, we did not sleep.
a year ago we had the biggest room and did not have that problem with noise. but the hygiene was a problem in that room too. they now have very loud keypads to get in your room instead of a key or card, which makes a lot of noise and is so unnecessary. I will not book here again primarily because of the hygiene issues of the beds, cushions, sheets and airvents. also my phone couldn’t charge because only one of the outlets worked and two lights were damaged.
5 / 5 This cute hotel is my go-to place to stay after every camino! Great service, easy check in, fantastic food at their restaurant! The rooms have no AC, but that didn’t bother me, it was still very comfortable to sleep!
2 / 5 How would you like to spend €150/night for the pleasure of sitting on the toilet in full view of pilgrims dining across the street? At Hotel Gastronómico Arco de Mazarelos you can do that and much more. For instance you can bask in the comfort of a bed where the headboard is secured to neither the bed frame nor the wall, but simply wedged between them. You can enjoy the feeling of utter sparseness while experiencing the clammy sensation of a stone building with no air conditioning in the peak of summer. There are two heaters in the room (understandable given the winter temperatures) but no aircon. The shower is fine, with nice pressure and temperature, but beware of the bidet partly obstructing the way out of it. As you make your way to your room, beware of the threadbare carpet on the stairs. The carpet is old and dirty, giving the hotel an unpleasant smell. The term “gastronómico” in the hotel name refers to the existence of a tapas bar downstairs but is a misnomer since the hotel does not offer breakfast. We tried to make use of the hotel’s gastronomy but the menu was thrown at us with such disregard (the service was slow and grudging) that we decided to get up and try somewhere else. Finally, the same key that opens the front door of the hotel opens the door to your room.
