Hotel Montes was an incredible experience. I rarely write reviews, and felt compelled to do so given my experience. I visited during a non-holiday in the fall months, so the weather was much cooler. We stayed in a room facing the street and restaurant which provided an incredible view. Hotel staff were extremely friendly too. I am reading the 1-star reviews and laughing to myself as my experience couldn’t be further from those shared. However, most complaints seem to come from the interior-only rooms (which is well demonstrated on the website at a cheaper cost…), the heat (my room had wonderful A/C), and the noise (didn’t have an issue). Highly recommend Hotel Montes!

We received a warm and friendly welcome at Hotel Montes. The location couldn’t be better: right in the middle of Santiago’s vibrant old town, just a few steps from the cathedral. Breakfast was fine, the coffee especially good. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Santiago de Compostela!

I cannot say enough good things about this hotel. I've been to a few places and I'm willing to make compromises between advertising and reality. So when I booked my stay I was ready to make those compromises on arrival at the hotel. I don't know how to express the sheer joy of what I found. From the minute I fronted up to the reception desk I felt at home.  Then I got to my room and I was blown away. It was exactly as shown on the Web site. I had 201 with a balcony view to the small garden square below. It has some original features like the stone chimney breast. Both the Reception staff i met are great .One lady was also working in the restaurant below , didn't see her name and Mary who I met when I arrived is a joy, a special type of person who will make your stay a great one . The room far exceeded my expectations, super clean, bright,  warm. The bed was very comfortable and the pillows were so nice. The staff in the restaurant below are also very freindly and attentive,  I had breakfast there and a few coffees. Breakfast was good , coffee is good too.

I chose Hotel Montes in Santiago de Compostela as a celebratory end to my Camino de Santiago pilgrimage. The hotel's location is exceptional, situated right next to the cathedral, surrounded by numerous restaurants, shops, and services. While the area is a bit noisier than more secluded parts of the city, the convenience and vibrancy of being so close to the cathedral more than made up for it. My room was beautifully appointed with a central view, providing a wonderful perspective of the city's lively atmosphere. The staff were outstanding, offering excellent service even during off-peak hours. Staying at Hotel Montes was a truly rewarding experience, perfectly capping off my journey.

I stayed here one night at the end of a short Camino with my friend (who had done the whole primitivo, 320km). We both really enjoyed our stay - the location was perfect, right nearby the cathedral. I really felt I could take in the beauty of Santiago. What’s more, I had an early flight at 6am and they arranged a well-priced taxi (23 euro) for 4am and gave me a packed lunch for my breakfast! Receptionists (day and night - I’m sorry I can’t remember their names) were both extremely kind. Thank you!
