1 / 5 Cozy, clean hotel, with a good location. But the service and customer focus are terrible! If you are with a bike, never come here! You will not have access to them from 19:00 to 8:00 a.m. And the staff does not offer any alternative options. There is no one at the reception at night, I wonder how to stop by if you arrive after 20:00? But in general, the communication of the female administrator is not very friendly. The male administrator is more polite and pleasant.
3 / 5 First of all: Mrs Eva did an excellent job at the reception. She was very friendly, attentive and helpful at any instance.
The rooms are nicely furnished and appear to have been renovated recently. Bathrooms are very clean and beds comfortable.
The sound insulation is very poor though (room 102). I could hear my neighbours snore, follow their conversations and their choice of TV programming. Also, they appear to have had very heavy luggage.... The noisiness is the only, but main reason for a reduced rating.
The public areas appear a bit empty and dark.
5 / 5 Amazing staff. The lovely lady at reception was delightful and went above and beyond to help me. I think it's a family business, and it shows in their BNB-like hospitality.
The room is clean, shower is great, small balcony was a nice surprise. There's AC, but no fridge or tea/coffee. The rooms are pretty minimalistic.
Perfect location. The rooms in the back (overlooking the neighborhood) are very quiet. The bed is on the softer side but for 1 night this is more than fine. They're well equipped for bike storage/collection at the end of your camino and seemingly used to the process.
On that note, they're very friendly to pilgrims. At the end of each day I'm usually looking (and smelling) like a vagrant - most hotels I get skeptical looks, but not here. The staff could not have been warmer or more welcoming.
I'd stay here again in a heartbeat.
3 / 5 They have caused me an extreme stress and panic attack on one night. When I came back from a day trip very late at night at about 21:30, the card to open the door to my room didn't work and I couldn't enter the room where I left all my staff and documents. There are no signs with information who to contact in case of emergency. I have called the number provided in the booking receipt several times and nobody answered this phone. Luckily some other travellers who stayed at the hotel were kind to help me. One lady contacted the customer service from booking.com and they contacted the hotel owner who came to open the door for me. I feel very disappointed that the best hotel in Santiago can cause so much stress accessing room which is basic provision.
The room is convenient for 1 night but for longer it is annoying. The shower door did not close properly so when showering some water was leaking on the floor.
This hotel should improve their hospitality service. There is only a coffee machine in the communal area. They should provide tables and chairs, refrigerator, kettle, so that pilgrims can sit and talk and meet each other. This would create a more social space which is more friendly for Santiago pilgrims.
5 / 5 I have stayed at Santa Filomena several times and was planning to book a room here for my next visit to Santiago de Compostela. Unfortunately, the room was unavailable, but that is completely understandable. It's the best hotel I've stayed at in Santiago and the best value for money of any hotel I've stayed at so far. Excellent staff, friendly and professional, the location couldn't be better and the rooms are comfortable and perfectly clean.
Thank you for a great stay, I hope to visit your hotel in the future.
