5 / 5 Incredibly kind and accommodating staff, they keep things very clean. If you see a complaint about needing to leave the dormatory rooms before 11 even if you booked multiple nights, this is an overblown reaction from a tourist that was obviously not a pilgrim. The staff need you out of the way to properly clean, go to the common area / kitchen or go take a walk, it's really not that big a deal.
1 / 5 Easily the worst albergue experience of the entire Frances Way. People coming in drunk all night long smashing and crashing, lights coming on all night no curfew. The design of the place is deliberately awful - my bunk was positioned next to the toilets with zero partition, so you could hear people going to the toilet all night and slamming doors. The place was stuffy and absolutely stank. I did not get a single wink off sleep. Dreadful place. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
5 / 5 This hostel has a lot going for it. The location is fantastic – right in the heart of the old town, just steps away from the city’s main attractions. The facilities are excellent, with a spacious layout, broad staircase, and even an elevator, which is a rare and welcome convenience in a hostel.
The rooms aren't overcrowded, which makes for a more relaxed atmosphere. However, a few things detracted from the comfort:
The air conditioning was turned off at night, and all windows remained closed, leading to very poor air circulation and an uncomfortably stuffy environment.
The beds lack privacy curtains, which can be a downside for light sleepers or those looking for more personal space.
The lockers next to the beds require a €2 coin to use – not ideal, especially if you don’t have change on hand.
Overall: A well-designed and ideally located hostel with great features and thoughtful design, but air quality and privacy could be improved to make the stay more comfortable.
3 / 5 It's alright. After a full day of walking, this isn't the best designed Alburgue. There are lots of stairs, the kitchen is on an entirely different floor, bag storage on another, reception on another. Otherwise, it's fine.
The location is close to the cathedral and convenient for bag drop off, but it was also extremely noisy at night because it's right by the main street.
And like others mentioned, bathrooms need some basic repairs, they've seen better days.
The reception was friendly and helpful in figuring out a bus schedule.
3 / 5 Really good central location, staff were helpful and friendly and gave us a great local eating recommendation. It was great to have the option of a double bed, I've never seen that before! However it was single handedly the loudest hostel environment I have ever 'slept' in. The fire door to our room didn't close (I think because the toilets were our side) so we only had a thin sliding door separating us and the rest of the hostel - every single door bangs loudly, including all the individual toilets, every footstep echoes on the stairs, and the stairwell lights are on all night. We also got unlucky with the waking times and snoring of the residents of our room, and the general chatting on the stairs through the night, but that isn't the hostel's fault. Just check before you accept your bed allocation that the fire door to your room definitely closes!! And try not to be on the toilet side!
