Great budget hotel. Old but very tidy, clean and safe. Service is organized and very helpful. We had a room out the back which was small but quiet. The bed was comfortable. The shower was really powerful but hot water system a bit unpredictable. Easy short walk to town and restaurants or up through the Botanical gardens to the University. Opposite gardens along the river for walks etc. We stayed a couple of nights and it was fine.
The room was the perfect size for me, and super clean; and the location and price couldn’t be beat! I had a rental car and was able to find paid parking on a nearby, quiet back street fairly easily (even though the fact that the hotel itself didn’t have parking gave me a lot of anxiety before arrival). There was only one person working, which made check in pretty slow since a large group arrived just before I did. My one real complaint is that the walls were very thin, and I can kept up late by talkative neighbors, and then woken early by other guests rolling their bags out.
Staff are lovely and very helpful. Unfortunately the hotel is very dated. Our room was small and only just fit the bed. The bed was hard and uncomfortable. Pillows were fluffy and unsupportive. The door didn't shut properly. Hotel is in busy main road and noise starts from about 5 in the morning. Bathroom was awful and the shower felt dangerous. Although it had a good location I can recommend this hotel.
Charming hotel. Gleaming wooden floors, high ceilings, perfect for the price. Check in was smooth, staff helpful and room had everything we needed. A quick walk from restaurants, train station... Would definitely recommend for couples on a budget.
Staff was very gentle and helpful, rooms are nice and clean, no air conditioning but the rooms are very fresh. No elevator but the staff helped a lot. The hotel fronts the Mondego park.
