We stayed for one night in a single room for two people. Unfortunately, our experience was not entirely positive. Upon booking, the host asked us to send photos of our ID documents via WhatsApp, which made us uncomfortable. However, we were told we wouldn't receive the code to access the key box without doing so, so we felt we had no choice. I had to explicitly request a privacy notice to understand what would happen to our personal data, as this request was made outside of the Booking platform. The host replied that the documents are only used for municipal registration and the city tax payment, and are then deleted. Still, I wasn’t fully reassured by this explanation. On the positive side, the location is excellent, right in the city center. However, be aware that the property is located on a high hill, so getting there requires quite an uphill walk every time. The bedsheets were clean and ironed, which we appreciated. However, the decorative pillows placed on top of the bedcover didn’t appear to be clean, which was a bit off-putting. Everything else in the room was fine.
They will connect you on WhatsApp, you should not be afraid for our safety. I told you to go once by yourself, it's much more peaceful and enjoyable.
Great location in the heart of the old town and relatively cheap. Some nice views if you choose a balcony room. But there are major negatives. There were hairs on the bed sheets (not my hair) which points to lax cleanliness. No light on the staircase up to the apartments which is downright dangerous, needed to use my phone torch. The internal staircase for the upper rooms is so small you would struggle to get a decent sized piece of luggage up them. In the heat of summer at least a fan is needed for a comfortable sleep. None were provided. Also quite noisy as there is no soundproofing. All in all you pays your money. Poor sleep. Will not stay again.
When I arrived, at 23h, there were no keys. I had to wait for someone to come. When the person responsible arrived we discovered that there were no keys because someone was actually in my room (someone was occupying two rooms). New towels were given but the bed sheets were not changed. No type of refund was given. Rooms were not clean. Bathroom was not clean. No heating. Zero noise isolation.
Good value, no-frills accommodation in the centre of Coimbra. Good base for you to explore! Despite arriving late, good communication with the property and no problems at all checking in without staff present. Located on a slope but well-lit at night, felt safe. Note that there is also a small narrow spiral staircase if your room is not on the ground floor. 👍 What I liked: View of the cute little church and square from my little balcony. Also, slept well & comfortable single bed. Slight downpoints: No private bathrooms in any type of room, only shared bathrooms (though clean) & thin walls but overall for the price can't ask for more! Also, no possibility to leave luggage on day of check-out , but it's fair enough.
