Pharmacia Guest House

Fantastic place to stay while in Coimbra, amongst the history and the shopping and cafes. Cozy rooms, and Juan at the front desk had a spot-on recommendation for an amazing little local restaurant nearby (A Cozinha da Maria). Can be a bit difficult bringing luggage via Uber or taxi; there was a bit of a walk, and a stairway, between drop off and the building for us, but seven of us managed it.

It’s a really charming and beautiful hotel which was a pharmacy in the old times. The room is big and the balcony in our room (room Jasmin) is so cute! And the doors have soundproofing sponges on them so you don’t need to worry that it will be noisy in the night. The location is good! You can walk to all the tourist attractions from here. *Cars are not allowed to go on this street so you need to walk a bit from the main road to here!*

We were a bit skeptical about going here because it's not a traditional hotel...so glad we did. This place is great. Our room was quite large and very comfortable. The front desk staff is wonderful and definitely ask them about the history of the building...it was an operational pharmacy until five (5) years ago. As you might imagine the decor is like a pharmacy from the early 1900's. Be sure to check out the ceilings in the reception space. This is not a traditional hotel...but in many ways it was way better. The location is ideal if you want to explore the 'old town' area. We will definitely stay here again.

This is a unique experience as the lobby is an old pharmacy. Staff were friendly and helpful and the rooms were good. It’s conveniently located in the heart of the area.

Room was perfect for solo traveller. Room was comfortable and everything worked well. Location was fantastic, right on the main street. It was easy to access codes for entrance and room.
