4 / 5 Surprisingly Decent
We booked here having read the reviews, so thought we should add to them to keep the positive reviews current.
On arrival we were a bit concerned, it’s situated right on the main road and while clean and open, it felt a bit deserted and basic and frankly a bit soulless. But we had booked so stuck with it. The location is reasonable if heading into Combarro.
Parking is easy in its own car park or out front.
It’s a 20 min walk into the historic centre or a few minutes drive.
It’s not a luxury hotel, but the rooms are a step up from the public entrance, being decently decorated, modern, clean, well maintained.
The rooms are not large, but principally face over the rear of the property where there is decent sized pool with plenty of loungers.
Rooms all have a/c and ceiling fans, so it’s easy to get a comfortable nights sleep. Bathrooms are again modern and decently equipped.
So coming in it feels a bit ‘budget’ but ends up being a good mid standard hotel.
Breakfast is very good, much better than expected and with more choice than we needed, but nice to gave.
There is a bar and lounge area, but not really used or staffed.
A few simple upgrades would be appreciated, a kettle and a couple of mugs, given outside of breakfast it’s not easy to get service.
Fixed soap dispensers in the bathroom would be nicer than the little sachets of shower gel, but that aside it was a very pleasant stay.
Not sure we would come back to Combarro, but it’s worth a visit and the Combarro Hotel is a pleasant stay for a few days.
5 / 5 An excellent place for exploring Pontevedra and the surrounding area. Only 15 minutes into city centre by car and 10 minutes to Combarro old town on foot. Nice taverna directly across the road. The hotel was quiet, clean, friendly service, nice pool area with lots of loungers and shade. I would stay there again.
5 / 5 Hotel Combarro was an extremely wonderful hotel, and right on The Camino (Spiritual Variant). Franco and his Team were always available and accommodating. He has an eye for detail and practices excellence. The Hotel has a bar area with a pool table and big screen TV. The breakfast buffet was AMAZING! We were a moderate group and he opened breakfast at 8am vs 8:30am. My friend and I showed up at 7:50am and he opened the doors!! No one has ever done that! The outdoor pool area and furniture were clean and the pool was well-balanced with chemicals. Pool towels were provided. The rooms were spotless and inviting. The Hotel is a 15-minute walk into Old Town Combarro. Hotel Combarro is a 10+ on a scale of 1 to 5. Don't think twice about making a reservation; you'll love the Hotel.
5 / 5 Absolutely lovely! Wonderful, clean and welcoming rooms. Opposite a bar, with the sea behind that. Ten minute walk to the main bit. Friendly staff (shout out to Frank!). Such a welcome retreat from the Camino. An outside pool and a bath! Do yourself a favour and come here!
5 / 5 Francisco (Frank), like others have mentioned, was amazing. And the hotel was great. Newly refurbished. Nice breakfast. A nice walk to the old town. I would stay again and definitely recommend. Thank you.
