We had a great stay at the Avenida Place, one of the last privately owned hotels in central Lisbon. The hotel has a bit of faded grandeur but for me that was part of the appeal. It is a grand old railway hotel and oozes charm and history from chandeliers at breakfast to the old phone boxes on each floor. The friendliness of the staff stood out as a key part of our stay and they could not have been more helpful. Central location ideal for exploring.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Hotel Avenida Palace – Lisbon From the moment we arrived, the staff at the Avenida Palace set a tone of gracious, attentive hospitality. Whether at the front desk, in the bar, assisting with luggage, or tending to the rooms, every team member was professional, warm, and eager to help. We arrived at 10 AM. They apologized profusely for not having a room available and suggested that we enjoy the breakfast buffet in the grand dining room. They also took our mobile number and offered to text us when the room was ready and offered ideas as to what sightseeing or shopping we might do while the room was being prepared. The room was ready at noon. The included breakfast buffet was outstanding — served at tables set with linen napkins and tablecloths, and offering a comprehensive array of choices. If something wasn’t on the buffet, the staff was happy to prepare it on request. The location could not be better — central to both the waterfront and the hillside restaurants and major shopping along Avenida da Liberdade. Our room was elegant, quiet, and exceptionally well-appointed, with generous storage space and independent climate control. Even though the hotel is historic, it’s been thoughtfully modernized with ample power outlets and conveniences for today’s travelers. “Palace” here refers not just to its name but also to its spirit — this is truly a grand hotel in every sense. Among the many fine hotels we’ve stayed in across Europe, this was clearly the standout winner. In sum, the Avenida Palace combines heritage, comfort, and impeccable service — a rare and genuine pleasure to stay here

This hotel was truly palatial. It was elegant, classy and provided an exceptional stay. Breakfast was delightful with so many choices and the staff I encountered were all fantastic. It's also in a great location. I would definitely stay here again.

Old world charm in buckets and spades! Attached to the railway station for trains to Sintra and Cascais, this old hotel has been beautifully restored to its former glory. There’s a very discreet entrance, beautiful public spaces, and very elegant hotel rooms. Rooms are perfectly appointed and sympathetically restored with modern conveniences. Wonderful Molton Brown toiletries, and luxury bed linens., Service throughout our 3 night stay was superb. The buffet breakfast was absolutely sensational! Not only was it in a gorgeous room with high ceilings and crystal chandeliers, but the sheer variety of freshness of the food was amazing. And again service was so friendly and superb. The hotel location is excellent too - couldn’t have wished for a better area to stay. Everything is walking distance and convenient. We would definitely stay here again- one of the nicest hotels we’ve stayed at for a while.

Avenida Palace was an excellent stay. The service was sharp and professional, and the location couldn’t have been more convenient. The sit-down breakfast was a standout—great way to start the day. The hotel sits in a prime area of Lisbon: close to the train, plenty of restaurants and pubs, good shopping, and even a small market up the Avenida. If you land a well-situated room, you’ll get impressive views of historic landmarks like São Jorge Castle. Traveling to the airport was simple and quick; it took us about 15–20 minutes. Overall, a smooth, comfortable experience that I’d definitely recommend.
