This hotel is located very centrally, just a few min from Rossio station, easily accessible by metro from the airport. Rooms are large, and interestingly arranged. There are lots of common areas like lounge and “kitchenette” (which doesn’t have a sink), and rooms with and without private bathroom. I had a room with a private bathroom for convenience but it would’ve been fine without as well as there are enough shared bathrooms to go around. Rooms are spacious with nice amenities that a lot of hotels in this price point don't have, like a kettle. Breakfast is a nice spread, although the dining area is quite small so you need to book a time and can’t stay long. The key drawback to this hotel are the stairs - ie no elevator. Reception is on 2nd floor and if your room is on the 4th floor, which mine was, it’s a bit of huffing and puffing. There’s also a laundromat 5 min walk away, which is convenient.

The Pensao is so well located in the city. Links to everywhere and so quick too. Rooms spread across 4 floors. Note no lift exists...all steps to central corridors. Reception on 2nd floor. Do not be put off by tradesman entrance at back of hotel either. All controlled. Rooms are on each floor after you get into central lobby area first. Shared facilities (toilet/shower). No real noticeable gripes with that and hardly any noise with neighbours either. Serving staff are brilliant too and happy to help you. Occupied 24/7. Would stay again now I know it well enough.

We stayed there a couple of days. The rooms were apparently refurnished and looked very modern. The location is great and close to the city center. There was not elevator. Do not book breakfast in the hotel since there are quite lots places to eat near the build. We did not know that and booked breakfasts, but the eating time have strict schedule and only had half of hour to eat.

We were visiting Portugal from US in November and stayed here for three days. Pros: - Super nice staffs - Very convenient location: next to metro, walkable to most Alfama attractions and close to a number of great restaurants including McDonald (my son's must have). - Delicious breakfast: awesome Portuguese breakfast buffet - Very affordable prices Cons: - The room was a bit small compared to US hotels but it was enough for the four of us (two kids two adults) - Folks from NYC or large cities might be fine but we suburb people find it a bit noisy at nights with trash trucks and other ambient city noises. Overall do recommend this place to anyone visiting Lisbon!

Highly recommend. Great views from the rooms. Close to esteries and public transit. Only issue is they don't have elevator
