I would say I am a very resilient traveller - and that I know what I am about to get, if I pay very little for it. But this place just didn’t sit right with me. Location wise - it was great, right near Trinidad station which is on a good set of train lines. The staff were receptive, but not overly helpful or interested. The problem… The beds are on the floor, if you stay on the bottom bunk, the rooms are tiny - there no place to put your luggage except for downstairs. the place smells from a waste water problem, and it isn’t cleaned properly. and it there are rogue guests who are drunk and yell all the time. Lastly, the kitchen doesn’t have a stove top so you can’t actually cook. The worst part; bed bugs - I was bitten over two nights and found one bed bugs. There are reviews about bed bugs and the infestation hasn’t improved. To be fair, it’s not the worst place - but across the board it doesn’t have many redeeming features

The staff was lovely and social like you read in the reviews. But I had a moment I asked the employee behind the desk an serious question and he kept making fun of an spelling error I made and laughing. So I eventually walked away with my question unanswered. These beds are AMAZING. They are sturdy, you dont feel it when your bunkbed buddy moves, the curtain gives you complete privacy. These were the best beds I ever had in an hostel. But I had the top bunk. The room was really really small and there were no hooks in my room to hang up a jacket or towel. I could barely open my suitcase in the room. Sadly as a woman I felt uncomfortable. There were alot of men in the hostel that seemed to be living there, not there for holiday. It gave a strange vibe and sometimes I felt stared at. So it didnt feel like a fun backpacker or traveler place. I was very happy I chose the female only dorm. There were female only shower areas but this was filled with these men all the time on the second floor. There isnt really a chill area, only chairs to sit on to eat or do some work. But they did their best to place a couch in the building here and there.

I stayed here for a night and I really loved it. The rooms are quite spacious, with excellent privacy. Each bed has its own blinding curtain, charging pot and light. How beautiful! I stayed in a mixed accommodation, 8 people but I felt so comfortable and secure. It is very close to the metro and city centre. Just next to it is a cafeteria which is quite pocket friendly. The bathrooms and toilets are okay but I think tidiness there could be a little improved. I would still highly recommend Fantasy Hostel for a pocket friendly stay. Thank you for hosting me.

Everything was fine. Beds have curtains and big backpacks fit in the lockers so that's a plus. Many toilets, which is nice. The showers stalls are basically like ones you'd have at home, so just know there's not much privacy when getting undressed as the hooks are outside the stall. Nice place for pilgrims starting in Porto: 2 minutes from the metro stop and then a 15 minute walk to the cathedral.

Fantasy hostel? More like nightmare hostel. The rooms are so small, there’s no space for luggage except in a locker, which is tiny. The rooms have no ventilation and get stinky and stuffy. After booking, I was notified of construction going on from 10 am-5pm. Instead, it started at 8:30 am, and was so close it shook the room. When I complained, the person working there pretended that he was unaware of the problem, blatantly lying to my face. We asked for a discount, and he refused. These people are dishonest and greedy. The vibe of the hostel is weird and antisocial. There are homeless people staying here and using the bathrooms. The management is aware and does not care. There’s no place to meet other travelers if you’re a solo traveler, as there’s no common area except the kitchen. The kitchen seating area is a long bar, so people are just on their phones because there are no tables. The only good thing about this place is the fact that the beds have curtains and the location.
