We had a fantastic stay at this hotel. Location couldn't be better. Our room wasn't particularly large but it was comfortable and was cleaned every day. Breakfast was included and there was fresh bread and cake, tasty fruit plus toast and yoghurt, cheese and ham served every morning. The wifi connection was very strong. I was a little worried after having read the reviews about the staircase to reach the hotel on the first floor but it really is not so bad. (unless you've got particularly large suitcases). Staff are all cheerful and very helpful. All in all I would highly recommend a stay here.
The good: Amazing location and very inexpensive. The bad: Old hotel that has not been modernized. They could spend just a little money to update it. Bathroom is not private, shower curtain that is so long you’re stepping on it in shower, a refrigerator that didn’t work, and no safe. There’s a bright light that turns on whenever you move. If you get up in the night to use the bathroom it totally lights the whole room. Once you get back in bed it stays on for another few minutes. Very annoying. A dim nightlight that does this is great, not these brute hallway lights. The worst: Woke up at 4 am to noise. At first I thought it must be a dance club. Now I think it’s laundry machines near my room. It’s now 6 am and I am writing this review because the noise has prevented me from going back to sleep.
Good hotel in an amazing location. The walls between the rooms are quite thin though, you can always hear what your rooms neighbours are doing
Location of the hotel couldn't have been better. Everything is few meters away and the riverside is about 10 minute walk from there. Staff at the reception is really kind. Both the day and the night shift. Stairs at the entrance weren't really any problem for me, not sure why people are complaining. It's normal stairs 😂 Only thing I saw are the rooms. They definitely need just a tiny bit of renovation, but otherwise everything was great. Room was easy to heat, bathroom was clean and room was cleaned when I was outside. Coming here again next time
I stayed at the Hotel Universal Campanha for one night and loved the experience. The hotel is well located, close to the train station and the city center. The room was clean, comfortable and spacious. The breakfast was delicious, with many options of fruits, breads, cakes and juices. The service was excellent, all the staff were very friendly and helpful. I recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to get to know Porto and stay in a cozy and charming place.
