2 / 5 Not a Five-Star Hotel
This stay fell well below five-star standards. The internet was unreliable, and I had no cell phone reception in my room, which made even basic communication difficult. Despite arriving at the confirmed 3:00 PM check-in time, I waited 30 minutes for my room, with no flexibility offered despite availability.
The rooms are dated rooms and utilize super annoying light switches. The location is great.
Breakfast was not included, and while my Hilton status MAY have qualified me for a complimentary breakfast, I chose not to ask. Given the overall level of disappointment with the hotel, I felt I would have a better breakfast elsewhere.
Housekeeping entered my room three times without warning—once about an hour after check-in and twice the following morning. The interior door lock did not work, so I positioned my suitcase in the doorway simply to make it clear the room was still occupied.
While waiting to check in I found it bizarre , that some arriving guests were welcomed with wine and cookies, others with nothing at all.
It was also frustrating that the hotel locks its doors at night, leaving guests dependent on a bellman to enter or exit.
Overall, the experience was disorganized, intrusive, and does not reflect a five-star hotel. I would not return.
4 / 5 The reception area was a bit confusing, I initially thought the security counter was the reception, but the actual one is inside the room. The hotel itself is old but has a charming, aesthetic vibe and is a pretty cool place to stay in Porto. The breakfast was good, and the location is great. The pool is on the smaller side, and I didn’t get to use it since the weather wasn’t ideal during my stay. It also has a unique old fashioned elevator with a couch, which added to the experience. Overall, it was a cool stay, though they mentioned they’d give me banana bread, and I never received it.
5 / 5 Impeccably clean rooms. well located and with service from the staff that went out of their way to make our trip memorable. Breakfast was great and so was the location. Note that there’s no parking (which can be costly around the hotel) and no gym on site.
5 / 5 We recently stayed at Hospes Infante Sagres for our wedding celebrations, including hosting our mehndi event at the hotel, and we cannot put into words how exceptional our experience was—thanks almost entirely to Ana Christine and her incredible management.
From the very beginning, Ana went above and beyond in every single way. Planning a wedding from abroad is complicated, but she managed every detail with such ease, professionalism, and care that it felt effortless on our end. We had a large group of guests staying at the hotel as well as renting the venue for our celebration, which could have easily become overwhelming, yet Ana made the entire process seamless.
She coordinated logistics flawlessly—accommodations, vendor communications, event setup, and the endless moving pieces that come with a cultural wedding celebration. More importantly, she did it all with warmth, kindness, and genuine care. It never once felt transactional; it felt like she truly cared about our experience, our guests’ comfort, and the success of our special day.
Every challenge that arose, Ana solved with a smile and a calm confidence that immediately reassured us. She anticipated needs before we even voiced them, provided thoughtful recommendations, and always made herself available, no matter the time. Her attention to detail was impeccable, and she took ownership of everything so that we could actually relax and enjoy the celebration with our loved ones.
Our guests were equally impressed—not just by the beauty of the hotel, but by how cared for they felt under Ana’s management. From check-in to the event itself, every single guest commented on how smooth and welcoming the experience was.
Hospes Infante Sagres is a beautiful venue in its own right, but what made our stay truly unforgettable was Ana’s dedication, heart, and professionalism. She turned what could have been a stressful, complex wedding weekend into something magical, easy, and full of joy.
We are endlessly grateful to her and could not recommend both the hotel and Ana highly enough. If you are planning an event or even just considering a stay, trust us—you will be in the very best hands with Ana Christine.
1 / 5 This hotel was a big disappointment. We have stayed here twice and requested early check-in. We were denied twice despite rooms being available. The front desk staff is rude, and they do not get the level of service expected at a hotel of this caliber. The rooms are finished nicely, but the heat/AC do not work. When we requested support for this, they said they would send someone right up. One hour later - nothing. Called again and they again promised to send someone up, nothing. There are much better hotels for this price range in Porto. I will not be staying here again.
