Owls Hostel Ildefonso

Awful experience. The room was filthy, your socks would get black after walking on the floor for a few minutes. The pillowcase didn't fit the pillow and it was stained. The "lockers" were falling apart and you had to buy a lock for them. The window in the room could not stay open and there was a window-sized hole covered with cardboard in the bathroom wall. Thankfully it was pretty warm back then, but I don't know how you deal with that during the colder days. The bathrooms looked so dirty most of us decided not to shower at all. Additionally, the whole hostel smelled of sweat and dirt.

I dont recomend this hostel at all...its very dirty everywhere and the kitchen and bathrooms look like they never get proper cleaned..The dorms are humit and there is light the whole night. The receptionist was friendly.

The staffs are very friendly and ready for requests. The bed is clean and bathroom is clean too. The kitchen is sometimes to do something. I was happy to stay there. All staffs speak good English. That was helpful to me. The garden is nice to breathe fresh air.

Staying at Owls Hostel Ildefonso was a delightful experience! The rooms were impeccably clean and cozy, making it a perfect retreat after a day of exploring Porto. The staff were warm and welcoming, always ensuring the place was spotless and comfortable. What truly sets this hostel apart is its prime location. I loved being able to walk to some of Porto’s best attractions. The Oporto Coliseum is just a short walk away, and the charming Ribeira Square is within easy reach. Plus, with Campanhã Train Station and São Bento Metro Station nearby, getting around the city was a breeze. If you’re looking for a clean, comfortable place to stay with easy access to Porto’s highlights, I highly recommend Owls Hostel Ildefonso!

Pluses: 1. Very nice staff. 2. Great value for money. 3. Facilities: nice, sturdy and comfortable beds 🛌, big tv, all facilities that required in the kitchen. 4. The place is renovated most of the things are new. 5. Nice, outdoor backyard. Minuses: 1. The location - there are still things to see around but it is a bit out from the city center - yet with the nice weather it’s nice walk so it is not SUCH a big problem. 2. There is one bathroom with 6 showers - it’s mixed boys and girls it was a problem as when we were there there was a bigger group of girls and another guy and me we had to knock on the door 2 times - they were inside more than 1 hour and the space in the bathroom is a bit small so if you have 4-5 people inside it’s might feel crowded. 3. The renovation in the kitchen for example is still not finished.
