I recently stayed at Hotel Porto Interface Trindade By Kavia in Porto, Portugal, during a trip in July 2024 with my 5-year-old daughter and parents. Unfortunately, my experience was far from pleasant, and I feel it’s important to share this so others can make an informed decision. The Situation I booked this hotel for one night, as we arrived late in Porto before continuing to Nazaré the next day. Based on my parents’ recommendation, I decided to stay at the same hotel they had booked. The photos online suggested it was a simple but decent option for a short stay. However, my experience was a stark contrast to what was advertised. Due to a delayed flight with TAP, we arrived at the hotel at around 1 a.m. Upon check-in, everything seemed fine. But when I entered the room, I was shocked: The room was smelly, dirty, and damaged. The bed sheets had stains and even holes. It was unacceptable, even for just one night. Attempt to Resolve I checked my parents’ room, which was better—not as good as the pictures suggested, but at least tolerable for the night. I then approached the reception, politely requesting a room change. Unfortunately, the receptionist refused, citing a fully booked hotel. I understand she might have been unable to do anything further, but the situation left me feeling helpless. Finding an Alternative Thankfully, I managed to find a room at Hotel Dom Henrique Downtown, just 50 meters away. For only €20 more, I received: A spacious, clean, and comfortable room. Top-notch service. A delicious breakfast. A 4-star experience that far surpassed the subpar conditions at Trindade. The Final Disappointment Before leaving, I requested not to be charged for the room, as the conditions did not match the standards advertised. Despite this, the hotel still charged me €99. This has resulted in an ongoing dispute with my credit card company to address the unfair charge. Key Takeaway I’ve learned an important lesson: never trust photos without thoroughly checking reviews. The experience at Hotel Porto Interface Trindade By Kavia was unacceptable, and their failure to provide a room that met even basic hygiene and quality standards is deeply disappointing. If you’re visiting Porto, I strongly recommend avoiding this hotel to avoid surprises. Instead, consider Hotel Dom Henrique Downtown for a reliable, comfortable, and high-quality stay.
The room and bathroom are clean. The beds are hard, like sleeping on the floor or a board, but there are various pillows, depending upon your preference. NB. I am currently travelling alone and was disappointed to be allocated a single bed. When I got to my hotel, the room was like a sauna. I opened the windows because the AC wasn't working, but it was so noisy. The hotel is on a main road opposite the metro train station. I did contact reception, who came to show me how to operate the heating/ cooling. No different to what I had already done. They offered me another room. I said I didn't have time and would perhaps do it after dinner. I returned to my hotel room, and it was hotter than when I left, even with the AC on for the three and half hours I was out. So, back down to reception to arrange a new room. The new room was 24 degrees but increased to 25.6 degrees. The next day, I left the window open all day while I was out and the heating/cooling unit off. My room temperature dropped to 20 degrees Celsius. It was better that night when I shut the window to block the noise and did not use the heating/cooling unit.
Staff where really friendly and helpful, arrived early but stored our bags no problems, and key card was waiting for us when we came back. Was given a map and tips on where to go. Room spacious and clean, only down side sound proofing not great this was only an issue on the last night as couple next to us very loud from 3am to around 7am, would defiantly be an issue for more than one night. Breakfast great as long as not expecting a full English. Bar great served an amazing port and tonic
Really enjoy our stay. We started and ended the Portuguese Camino from here. Proximate to the Metro, the cathedral and easy to get to and from the airport.
