Lovely hostel! I really like how the hostel is decorated and furnished. The dorms are well built - I slept on the top (3rd level) bed and this was no problem at all in fact in this hostel the top bed is a better choice than the lower one. The bathrooms and kitchen are good and large enough. Nice common areas. Clean. Friendly receptionists. It’s in the middle of a shopping street so be aware when you get out you’re in a busy environment. Absolutely great value for money
You can go shopping just downstairs, and the location is very convenient with easy access in all directions. It’s also very close to the metro station. Although there were bedbugs in the room, the staff worked really hard to clean it. The short-haired lady and the gentleman at the front desk were very kind and patient, always helping to solve any problems. This morning, they even suggested I take the metro to the bus station, which saved me a lot of time. I’ll definitely stay here again next time I visit Portugal!
BED BUGS! Changed 4 beds and 2 rooms, washed and cleaned everything, didnt help! Stay away. They said they solved this problem 1 month ago. Not true! Bed bugs are still there. Other people in my room found them on their beds too.Ruined my Porto vacation completely. Employees try to be nice but that doesnt make the bed bugs go away. Do yourself a favor and skip this place.
From the moment I arrived, I tried to speak to the receptionist in English, saying simple greetings like "Hi" and "Good afternoon." Yet he insisted on replying to me in Portuguese, which I clearly do not understand. As someone working in a position that involves dealing with tourists, speaking a common language is basic respect. It felt very disrespectful and frustrating that he didn't even try to communicate in English. Then, on top of that, I had a terrible experience with bed bugs in my bed, which kept me awake for hours. I asked them to change my bed, and they did, but I barely got a couple of hours of sleep after that. By the next morning, I was exhausted and just needed some basic help, like washing my pajamas that got affected. And guess what? He again responded only in Portuguese. I mean, what kind of hospitality standard is that? It felt like complete disrespect or just a total lack of understanding of how to deal with guests. So I’m leaving this review to highlight how unacceptable this experience was. This person’s behavior was just awful, and it really ruined what should have been a comfortable stay.
The hostel is full of bed bugs 10/09/2025. I wish I had checked the comments before to avoid this nightmare. No matter how much you clean it, if you don't eliminate the plague you impact guests health. I have bites all over my body. Booking: La Rosalía, Agoda: Garden House Hostel
