I’m not one to generally complain about a room. But this room was tiny and has a view of an alley, I could look right into peoples houses. Also, never got the tv to work. My legs touch the walls when I’m sitting on the toilet and there has been non stop construction on the floor above me. Any rest time I try to take in my room has not been rest. Banging and various construction sounds from 9am-6pm, it echos in my room. I know I’m traveling but I got a hotel to be able to rest after a long day of walking around the city. And you just can’t. I was also woken up this morning by the construction.
Should be a 3/4* hotel. Staff were FANTASTIC and even put our backpacks in our room for us. Location great and room comfortable. Would highly recommend and a good price even compared to the hostels. Thank you for a great stay. Would also recommend the veggie restaurant 2 mins walk away (though there are lots of good restaurants etc. nearby).
Beautiful hotel in a quiet area, walking distance to the port and historic area. The staff were wonderful and very helpful. The room was spotless clean and spacious enough for two people. My only critique is that as a smoker there was no outside area to smoke,other than that I can highly recommend this hotel and I would definitely stay here again.
I booked this hotel through Booking.com because the reviews looked promising. However, just before my stay, I was informed that my credit card couldn’t be verified. I found this strange, as I provided valid card details multiple times, but none were accepted. I also emailed the hotel several times, but never received a response. It makes me wonder if this was due to overbooking. My reservation was eventually canceled, which caused a lot of inconvenience and frustration. At the very least, I believe the hotel should have responded to my emails.
The hotel is located in a very central part of the city, just minutes from the metro to the airport and the lively downtown area. The staff were all very friendly, kind and professional and were a highlight of my stay at the Vera Cruz. The price was also very reasonable for the location and breakfast was just right - lots of choice and located in a rooftop area which has views over the central square and neighbouring areas. I would highly recommend.
