This place charged us €3 per bag for collecting our amino luggage and €3 per bag for dropping off our luggage in the morning. This is in the addition to the €8 Top Santiago charges for luggage service. This is pathetic and a cash grab from pilgrims on the Portuguese camino. The owner made us get the money and had no change but insisted at the amount before letting us drop off our bag at 7am. These luggage companies need to find alternate places that do not charge a sum for delivery and pick up or include it in the delivery price. We had 3 bags amongst us so it's very pricy. Pilgrims should not patronize this location as an albergue as well as the owner seems to be very money minded.
This Alberge felt dark and was cold throughout our stay. It was cold outside and the only heater in the place was without a propane tank. The poor host seems tired and talked about all the cleaning she had been doing when we arrived. It’s in the historic part of town which accounts for the old feel, and our room had stone wall on one side which was beautiful. They have eight beds, two toilets, one with a tub/ shower combo in it, with plenty of hot water. The room we had was perfect for our family with two sets of bunk beds, although you had to climb across one person to be able to access the only source of electricity in the room. When we checked in , the host told us that she makes breakfast for the pilgrims and we told her we don’t eat breakfast, and did not need it. She told us €25 and later we found out from a fellow pilgrim that it was only €20 for the bed and five for breakfast. We went back to her and again told her that we did not want breakfast and she gave us back our 5 euro per person, saying she was going to bring it to us. We wondered if there is a language barrier although my Spanish is pretty good, although she understood me the second time, so who knows?
Had a massage from Rosa. She is absolutely a kind hearted warm person and i would definitely recommend her.
I stayed at the beach house, about 1 km from the main albuerge and the Camino. It is quiet, private and clearly the owner’s home. Many thanks for a great stay during a very crowded week on the Camino. The bed was comfortable, the sheets and towels were spotless and the house was completely quiet.
We were very disappointed with this albergue! Rosa made us pay €40 for a private room which was not private at all!! People walking in and out of our room to hang their washing on our balcony and the bathroom was on another floor! Gross misrepresentation! Not the spirit of the camino! Great breakfast though...😏
