Apartamentos Turísticos Alvear Suites

Caution to anyone that has made a booking in advance AND recieved confirmation: you are not guaranteed your accomodation as the property will lie for more profit / avoid accepting responsibility for overbooking. My partner and I booked in April 2024 for a stay in Oct 2024, recieved confirmation, but upon arrival were told that there were no more rooms available. Upon showing the receptionist our confirmation on booking.com, they informed us that they had only been working for two months so they weren't sure what had happened (?). Following this, the receptionist revealed they had a more "moderate" room available than what we had originally expected and booked for. We were concerned about being double-charged. The receptionist requested we cancel the original booking on our end, and they would confirm the cancellation on their end. When I questioned why there was suddenly an available room, and asked why we would have to cancel the booking on our end when there was supposedly nothing/no bookings on their end, I was told that this was the only way to get a refund (?). Unfortunately, as this was the only available accomodation for the time being and we were tired from our Camino, we were essentially forced into cancelling the original booking on our end and absolving the property of any mistake - making it seem like we had initiated the cancellation when the property had failed to honor it's original accomodation. While the receptionist apologized and noted this had never happened before, I'm hard-pressed to believe that they did not intentionally force us into rebooking another room and relieving themselves of any responsibility in the matter. Book cautiously and beware that this property is not trustworthy. Also, the walls are not sound-proof and I can hear my neighbor fart clearly

We were very disappointed in this place. The only pleasant thing about it was the lovely woman who checked us in and out. She was so nice and had wonderful English. Our room was small and dark. At first we were happy that it had air conditioning it we soon learned that it was not working properly. We were so uncomfortable that we opened the windows to let the cool evening air in and hoped there would be no mosquitos. The shower was small and the water pressure could have been stronger. The breakfast that was included was at a cafe down the street. We passed on it because we read several negative reviews about it. We were glad to leave. Won't be back. Only good thing is that it's directly on the Camino.

Lovely place but looking a little old. Bonus washing in every room which is a bonus but had done my washing the day before. Location is excellent. The lady doing the check in was a gem!

Lovely hotel. We had the attic room. Well design interior layout with usable space. Clear. Bright room and ensuite bathroom. Receptist was helpful,warm and attentive. Recommended.

Spacious apartment with a small kitchen, fridge and washing machine. Unfortunately the room was full of small flying insects! All over the walls/ceiling/curtains in the bathroom, kitchen and bedroom, there were at least 10 that we killed. Nasty! And you can see on the walls the black marks where they were killed before.
