I recently stayed and it was a very inhospitable welcome by I assume the Manager. The bed was short with a thick waterproof mattress protector which was hot & uncomfortable. The room also smelt & had mosquitos. When I advised that the water pressure in the shower had scalded me there was no assistance given, only a verbal response that "It was all normal". A second guest had also experienced the same issue with the shower. The lounge chairs at the pool are broken and gross.
A classic old villa you can stay the night. A different experience to most hotels. Simple continental breakfast. 1.5 km from the town, so a bit of a walk if you are a pilgrim. Easy to catch a taxi, and free parking.
Im posting a review since some reviews seemed spotty. I can’t believe some of the entitlement in the reviews, the three caretakers and cook take marvelous care of the guests here, and the grounds are absolutely stunning. Was able to stay here for a reduced rate through a group but the dinner was composed of many courses which were all astounding with liquor and wine. Though you will not need much the staff are willing to help with anything. Bring your A game with regards to chess and speaking Spanish and enjoy a walk on the grounds!
I was recently there for a weeding, the surroundings are stunning, the view of the sea amazing but unfortunately there is the end of the positive side. The food from the cocktail to the desert does not justify the price. Cocktail - items are dated, bad preparation, bad cooking.. awful. The seafood was dry and overcooked. The fish was not fresh, the meet was ok but presentation for both dishes bad bad bad.. things were running loose around the place, sauce was disgusting... the sorbet was pure sugar and to be honest tasted from a flavour bottle. Desert was OK but again, based on price, they could have something home made. Overall food is bad, bad cooked, bad presentation, bad everything..
The building and grounds are beautiful. We could have spent at least two or three days enjoying the hotel. Unfortunately we were doing the Camino and were there overnight. A special thanks to the lady taking care of the dining room. Her attentiveness was outstanding.
