I've been at the hotel for a business trip, one night only. The room was on the 5th floor, so nice and comfortable, parquet and new furniture. No Minibar or Coffee machine though. The bathroom had a bathtub and a bidet too! For those like me that can't understand how people can't live without. The restaurant was populated by singles, couples and families too, and the energy was nice. The waiters and bar tenders were fast in the service and friendly. Definitely a nice experience.

When we arrived at this hotel we showed our passports, were given a room key and the receptionist said "that's it". So we said "we've paid for breakfast and dinner", she said "breakfast at 8, dinner at 8". That was it. There was no information in our rooms or anything. When we went down for dinner I used Google translate on my phone and showed it to the bar staff to read "we are staying in the hotel, what can we order for dinner?" They said "anything from the menu" and pointed to a QR code, so we ordered from that menu - 2 burgers. They were incredibly tasty!! The staff were lovely, friendly, smiley. After dinner I asked if I could pay for our drinks, which they gave me a receipt for, nobody mentioned anything else to us and we went to bed. The next morning for breakfast we did the same, ordered from the menu and left afterwards. When we sat down for dinner one of the staff came over and said that we had made a mistake, we weren't allowed to order from the main menu and we should have mentioned we were hotel guests (which we did). She read us a menu with just 2 choices for each course and my god was the food vile. The pork was raw and I was given a whole fish, battered, head and all but no appropriate cutlery to eat it with, we left the food. It felt like we had been naughty and we're being punished with their worst food. Previously when I had asked for wine I was given a glass of a very nice wine, this time when I asked I was given a bottle of wine that costs €1 in the shop equal to paint stripper. We also felt really uncomfortable from that moment on, we felt as though we weren't welcome. We ate from the restaurant menu the following lunchtime (obviously aware we would have to pay for it) and people were staring at us the whole time. And the staff did not engage with us at all. I think the language barrier was a huge factor but we tried our best to speak the language and used Google translate for the rest, I feel like this hotel is a popular place for locals but not very welcoming to tourists and they should really have an info pack in multiple different languages explaining their process for half board etc to save their guests the dire embarrassment we felt. Aside from all of this the NOISE LEVEL was outrageous 😱😱😱 we could hear every word the room next to us were speaking, every door close, every toilet flush, on our final night we slept absolutely terribly because the hotel was very busy. I wouldn't stay here again and I wouldn't visit this part of Spain again, it's clear you're only welcome if you're Spanish.

We've just eaten the 12€ menu del dia here. The food is excellent, the staff are lovely and we'd definitely come here again next time we're in Cee. Can't fault Hotel La Marina.

· I honestly cannot understand why this hotel is only a 2*. it is so beautiful and the staff are wonderful. the room was huge and the bathroom was as big as the accommodation I had stayed in the previous day. there are so many extras too like requesting certain pillows for allergies etc. the food is excellent. I had a wonderful nights sleep. many locals eat there which tells you how good it is. cannot recommend enough.
