Editorial policy and data methodology

CaminoMaps publishes route-aware planning information. Our goal is to answer practical pilgrim questions clearly while keeping generated directory pages useful, distinct, and traceable to structured data.

Route and locality data

The site is generated from a consolidated trail dataset. A locality or accommodation is stored once and associated with every route it serves. Geographic proximity and stable place identifiers are used to resolve duplicate records; route-specific names and stage connections are retained where they add real context.

Accommodation selection

Search-indexable accommodation pages are limited to pilgrim-focused categories: albergues, hostels, and municipal stays. Hotels, apartments, villas, and other general lodging may remain available in the product, but are excluded from search indexing unless their classification changes.

Third-party information

Some accommodation facts, photos, contact details, and guest feedback originate with Google Places, Booking.com, or the accommodation operator. Third-party ratings are shown as attributed user feedback and are not presented as CaminoMaps reviews. Booking links may be affiliate links, which can earn CaminoMaps a commission without changing the price paid by the pilgrim.

Updates and corrections

Site pages are regenerated when the underlying trail data changes. Editorial resources carry published and updated dates. Because Camino conditions change, pilgrims should verify opening dates, bed availability, prices, transport, weather, and safety information directly before travel.

Corrections can be submitted through support. We review the affected source record and update the consolidated dataset so the correction reaches every route that uses it.

AI and answer-engine use

Structured data is used only when the corresponding information is visible on the page. We do not create review scores, availability claims, or first-hand experience that the source data does not support. Automated assistance may help transform structured facts into page copy, but route and listing claims remain grounded in the published dataset.
