5 / 5 Absolutely stunning, highly recommend.. the warmest family run business that is one of the life works of a talented Architect : an unique rewamp of a building with a long incredible history long centuries ,from monastery to leather factory , nestled in the nicest corner of Neda .The value you get for the money is far higher than the spending. Don’t miss on a brief tour of the chapel
4 / 5 Very romantic and historic converted private residence ( mansion house). It dates back at least 300 years & was originally a leather factory
The estuary views are wonderful even in the rain. The top floor bedroom was spatious with separate living space. I had a relaxing & quiet stay. The house is beginning to show it's age. The lovely communal gardens & outdoor spaces include bar, swimming pool, seating areas & chapel.
The service from Juan & his staff was excellent. A good choice for the discerning pilgrim.
5 / 5 I had such a wonderful experience here during my journey on the Camino Ingles. I was grateful to celebrate my birthday with such a warm welcome and beautiful atmosphere. It was a treat to rest here and enjoy all of the amenities. The architecture was so unique and creative and I was truly impressed. Thank you to all of staff and owners for offering such a beautiful experience. 10/10 recommend!
5 / 5 Wow! Without a doubt our most beautiful stay along the entire Camino Inglés and trip to Spain. I was traveling with a large group which booked the entire hotel and Juan did everything to accommodate us (even a ride into town to get to the pharmacy for some of our sick peregrinos). The architecture of the original monastery combined with the incredible restoration done by Juan´s father was an absolute joy to experience. My group loved the peace and serenity of river views and walking along the shore. And of course the lovely pool was a huge plus for recovering after the long day´s hike. We thoroughly enjoyed the multiple areas to socialize, especially the library with a piano. This is a place that is clearly built on family and love and you can feel it in every detail. The staff was incredible and so kind to us, making sure we were ready for the next stage of our Camino. If you have the opportunity to stay here, do not pass it up! Keep in mind that once you arrive, you wont want to leave, so pick up any supplies you need as you walk through town! Thank you, Juan, Paul, and the rest of the team. I can´t wait til we meet again!
1 / 5 My first tangle with bed bugs!
Below is my First Review, and now is how the hotel dealt with the problem. We always have experiences that we would rather not have, but it is the way the providers deal with the problem that matters.
They called me to say that they had detected the problem and have had the rooms checked and cleaned. They were very sorry that this had happened on my Camino journey.
As I said previously, the staff were friendly and helpful, the location was great.
Thank you for calling
First Review
We visited Pazo da Merce on our first night's stop on the Camino Ingles. The location is great, and the staff are friendly, but this once grand hotel is starting to show signs of neglect. It was the most expensive hotel along the Camino.
In the morning, I mentioned to my friends that I had found several black bugs in my bed. When I squashed one, blood spurted out. “Oh, they exclaimed, “They are most likely bed bugs. You won’t start itching or showing signs of bites for several days. “They were correct!
Please sort this issue out so other travellers don’t get the Camino itch before reaching Santiago de Compostela.
The bites have got worse with a secondary reaction to them. I would not wish this on any Camino traveller.
