2 / 5 A rather decent place compared to others. It’s really a matter of luck who you end up sharing a room with.
Good points:
€7 for a bed, which is so far the cheapest I’ve seen on the Camino for a municipal albergue.
The Wi-Fi signal is excellent in most areas, very convenient for doing a bit of planning.
Laundry facilities are available at a very fair price — €3 for washing and €3 for drying.
Bad points:
The kitchen is WAY too small for the number of pilgrims; it gets quite annoying when you’re trying to cook.
Lots of beds packed into a small room — the air gets stuffy very quickly, and there was a pig in the room who snored horribly.
I was told to take a top bunk because I was “young,” but later someone who arrived after me, and was even younger, got a bottom one. It really depends on luck and timing, which I find quite unfair.
Even though I had a very bad experience, it wasn’t really something the hostel could control.
1 / 5 Cold shower, cold rooms... Annoying host, first forcing me as younger to stay up in the bunk bed but in the end it doesn't matter, she filled all young people anywhere, the lady host just discriminating certain pilgrims by her own choice, AVOID!! For 7 euros but cold shower, there are better places in Astorga definetely!!
4 / 5 Big and meant to hold a lot of people but clean and with everything you would need as a pilgrim. Very welcoming volunteers and nice kitchen space to cook up a dinner or lunch. Bathrooms are a little old but it’s only seven euros so I have no complaints.
5 / 5 3rd time I'm staying here on my Camino, stayed 2014, 2017 and now 2025, was a bit skeptical because last time was too full and noisy and smelly, this time was really clean, 8 in a dorm but everyone respected each other's noise level. I'm pleased I stayed. Great value for moneu
5 / 5 Amazing and welcoming stuff, the room was good, and it had all the facilities.
