Don’t let the small town vibes fool you – Albergue El Alemán is like finding a 5-star hotel in the middle of nowhere. The beds are so good, you might forget you’ve been hiking all day, and the bathrooms? Clean enough to make your mom proud. They even have a restaurant with ‘not bad’ food – because hey, they’re clearly not here to win Michelin stars, just hearts (and stomachs). So if you’re looking for a place to crash where you won’t wake up regretting your life choices, this is it. Just don’t come expecting gourmet meals; come for the sweet, sweet sleep. Five stars for the beds and the showers!
The food only: Nice! The opening time had been 7:30 when I was there (as of July 2024). The staffs all were friendly and the vibe was cosy and great. If I had to pick one difficulty for me, it would be the price gap between paying by cash and card. I made it by cash of €6.80 in total, but the staff said it would cost €10 if having paid by card.
Stopped for a 2nd breakfast and it was great! Omelet with ham, cheese, and tomatoes was delicious. Very good service there and good stop for Pilgrims to recover a little while.
Review of the food only: excellent!!! Stopped here for breakfast. I had a tostada with jamon and tomato. By far the best tostada I’ve had in my entire Camino trip! Bread was perfectly toasted. Tomato was fresh. Jamon was generous. Reallllly good.
I have had the best cheese omlette I had in the Camino. The place is sparkling clean and the coffee is good, too.
