5 / 5 Best kept secret of Estella, a stop en route Camino Frances . Spacious restaurant with outside seating area ( patio) towards the back of the restaurant adjacent to Ega River, with a view of the historic Puente de la Picuda bridge.
We were a group of six, welcomed warmly by a lovely lady called Carmen who was the owner of the establishment . We ordered drinks which were served promptly . The recommendation of wine - Prado de Irache was superb . One of us was vegetarian and the tomato feo de tudela ( giant tomato salad) served was delicious. We ordered gambas, meatballs, lasagne, hamburgers. All the dishes were prepared to the highest standard using home grown ingredients , locally sourced out at Estella and neighbouring places . Dessert - violet flower sundae and tiramisu- truly divine . Service was first class and ambience incredible. This place stood out of all other places we had food along the Camino route from Pamplona to Logroño. Special thanks to the waitress Oihane, who had a pleasant demeanour and had lot of knowledge and patience to explain to the English speaking peregrinos. Overall a 5 Star experience, highly recommend this restaurant
5 / 5 What a great find in the village of Estella! we were lucky enough to get a table on the patio by the river for an incredible atmosphere in view and dining experience! Made all the better with excellent service from the owner and really outstanding food and presentation from the chef! We had the lasagna and the ribs (with a homemade barbecue sauce that was excellent!) finished off with a lovely espresso and piece of the chocolate cake❣️ thank you very much! Highly recommended!
5 / 5 Pure delight. Nestle led along the river, Casa Carmen offers both vibes and mouth-watering local fare. We shared the regional (white) asparagus and goat cheese walnut salad. Followed with their home made beef lasagna and pork nibs. The service was warm. The ambience enchanted us along the river. They played perfect music to accompany a lovely evening. 10/10 recommend.
5 / 5 We stopped to visit our children walking the El Camino and wanted to take them out for a special meal. Casa Carmen was very close to the Albergues they were staying in so we went. What a lovely surprise. The food, drinks and service were fantastic and considering the quality of the food the prices were reasonable. We met the owner of the establishment who was very personable and gracious. If back in Estella we would return in a heartbeat!
1 / 5 Owner/Carmen had an attitude throughout our dinner, often ignoring us when she passed next to our table, pretending not to hear us. Then, when I placed down my credit card to pay the bill, she said, “Cash only”. I re-checked the front door and the menu, but nowhere was cash only indicated. When I mentioned this to Carmen, she got upset and said, that’s not my problem, that’s your problem. For this reason and the previous rudeness, I’ve provided the lowest overall rating and I recommend taking your valuable business elsewhere.
