The hosts have worked hard to create a warm and inviting atmosphere. From the moment you check in you are cared for. I’ve had a foot issue since renscevalles and Lola offered me ice without me even having to ask. The albergue bunks are sturdy with privacy dividers. Individual plugs and shelves are a pilgrims luxury. The showers have little cupboards to keep things dry. Cotton sheets and blankets are provided too. Things that make you feel truly cared for. The food at the bar/cafe is reasonably priced. Heaps of laundry hanging space and lots of lovely places to sit and relax. The optional dinner was excellent. Loved staying here.

One of the best Albergues on the Camino Frances! Run by the most enthusiastic and hardworking hosts, they really care about the guests. There is a big yard with sun lounges which was perfect after the big hike uphill! They also put on a REALLY good pilgrim dinner (the best I’ve eaten so far… slow cooked beef stew and rice with delicious and fresh Santiago cake 😍)

Albergue in the village of Fonfría, pretty clean place with very good organization. Good points: Excellent Wi-Fi signal in the bed — great if you need to do some planning for the next day. No problem getting hot water in the shower — perfect after a long day of walking. The dormitory is quite spacious; you don’t get that cramped feeling like in many other albergues of this kind. The laundry facilities are available at a fairly reasonable price. Bad points: It’s impossible to close the doors to the men’s toilets.

We stayed here 3 years ago when we walked the Camino Frances and had such good memories that we came back for a second visit! The kind hospitality of the husband and wife who run the albergue makes this a special place! Be sure to try the local cheese drizzled with honey - it is like a super special cheesecake (without the crust)!

What a special night in a very special clean Albergue. Community dinner was fabulous and then spent the last 10 minutes dancing around with all the other pilgrim to Galician music. Just magical,
