Miramar

We have stayed Alda Miramar Rooms in Gijon as a couple for 4 nights. We had an issue about the heating at our room and called the office at late night and the lady on the phone was extremely helpful and kind enough to arrange another room for us the same night and we had such a comfortable and relax stay till the end with no problem. I would also like to point that the staff at the reception was also very kind, helpful and attentive. You are lucky to have such employees at your corporate and please take this as genuine feedback which I also did the same on booking.com. I find it very unfortunate, when a hotel isnt open to obligingness. Yes I know: you get what you book! But yet, some hotels are open to accomodate the needs of their customers a little more than others....and some less

A disaster - a dodgy place to stay at! The hotel staff is highly incompetent, rude and managed to ruin our entire morning the day before we were supposed to arrive. We made a booking with a flexible rate about a month before our stay in Gijón. A day before arrival, I received a dubious WhatsApp message from a random number with a payment link saying that if we didn't pay until 7pm that day, our booking would be cancelled. Since the WhatsApp message seemed a bit fishy, I called to clear out the situation. The person who answered, seemed even more shady, she said she couldn't charge my card via booking.com because it was illegal. She explained that I had to pay immediately and via the link or she'd cancel the booking. When I asked her to cancel then and that we'll look for another hotel if they weren't willing to comply with the booking.com conditions, all of a sudden she said we couldn't cancel, as the cancelation period had passed. I had provided my payment details at booking.com as a guarantee of course. She basically blaimed me for not having paid yet and acted as if I was some kind of a criminal who randomly books hotel rooms around the country and then denies payment. When they made their threat reality at 18:57h that night, they must have felt wonderful! They won the battle! We didn't use the payment link of course and that was reason enough to kick us out. Good job Alda Miramar Rooms for ruining about 4 hours of our one-day trip to Bilbao before even staying in Gijón. You had 90€ of income ensured, had you only known how to simply receive two international travelers who were looking forward to staying with you and pay. I applaud you for messing up our experience in beautiful Gijón, before even arriving! All of this could have been avoided. None of the whole payment link obligation is mentioned in booking.com, they could have contacted us way in advance and I think you cannot expect anyone to check their e-mails one day before arrival to theaten them to cancel their reservation and have them spend their entire morning to look for another place to stay.... But hey! You won! Kudos to you!

Good location and decent room, but absolutely abhorrent service. The check-in-station haunts me in my nightmares.
