5 / 5 Mol bona
2 / 5 Poor value for money
3 / 5 My wife, my young daughter, and I stayed three nights in early October.
The location is perfect, just a 3-minute walk from the center and surrounded by restaurants and a supermarket. Another positive is the parking, but the spaces are very, very narrow. If someone parks right next to you, you're literally stuck inside your car.
The apartments are "okay" for a weekend, but they're small. You can hear everything from the street because the windows don't close properly and, being wooden, they don't insulate against any noise. You can hear people walking by and cars, since our apartment was right next to the road. The bed isn't very comfortable either, and the only storage space is a small alcove in the bedroom with two shelves.
Another thing to mention is that the apartments at the back have excessive vegetation growing on the walls and roof, creating a breeding ground for insects that makes for a constant buzzing sound at night. On the plus side, the kitchen is fully equipped, and the heating and hot water are readily available. Also, having two bedrooms is a plus if you're traveling with children.
It's worth noting that the twin bedroom doesn't have a wardrobe because there's literally no room. The door hits one of the beds when you open it.
There's Wi-Fi, and it works well with a good signal throughout the house.
If you're traveling as a couple and/or with a small child for a weekend, it's 'fine'; but for longer stays, things get complicated.
Many accommodations in this country have adopted a culture of trying to get the most out of the smallest investment, and I don't think that's the right approach.
3 / 5 Positives: The location, private parking near the center (where parking is impossible), two rooms, which is very much appreciated if you're traveling with kids, very thorough cleaning, and average price for the area.
Negatives: The insulation is zero, you can hear absolutely everything from outside, the furniture is uncomfortable (there's a huge table in the living room that doesn't allow you to watch TV), and the sofa is very uncomfortable. The refrigerator is very small, which if you're not going to use the kitchen, it doesn't matter, but that refrigerator for four people doesn't fit anything, and it's also incredibly noisy.
The worst thing I found was the functionality of the bathrooms. The one downstairs is very, very small, the doors are difficult to open and close. There isn't a single shelf to put a toiletry bag on, and there are no bathroom cabinets. In the downstairs apartment, you can't even sit upright on the toilet because you'll hit the radiator. For three nights, three people, we had to buy toilet paper. They only leave one roll per bathroom (these are nice touches, and they cost very little).
But as I said, given its price, the two rooms, cleanliness and its proximity to the center of Santillana with private parking, I think it's not bad.
5 / 5 We've been spending a few days here, and honestly, everything was great. I would definitely stay in these apartments again.
