Albergue Porta de Grandas

The wonderful person Maria Josė Gontad, who runs this place, is truly hospitable and genuine. The Alberque is clean and light, and has not just common, but the privatе rooms. The kitchen has everything you need for cooking. You can arrange for your clothes to be washed and dried. A great place to stop along the way! I highly recommend it.

One of my favorite albergues of my Camino! Has so many little details pilgrims appreciate: plenty of outdoor space and clotheslines, washer and dryer for 8 euro and they fold it for you, soap in the shower, spacious and clean, sitting area inside, bus schedule posted. Just really enjoyed my time here.

We had mixed feelings about this albergue. It’s located right on the Camino Primitivo, at the entrance to the village, which is very convenient. We stayed on the ground floor in a 4-bed room and appreciated the privacy.The place has a well-equipped kitchen and a spacious dining area. However, the overall atmosphere felt a bit cold, and we didn’t get a single smile from the staff during our stay. We paid to have our clothes washed — they came back folded but still wet (and drying cost 4€), so we had to hang everything around the room ourselves. All in all, one of the more average stops on our journey.

With so many positive reviews, I must have been the one who was unlucky. I stayed in a private room that was disgusting. There was accumulated dust, cobwebs, and spiders everywhere. Disgusting and unacceptable in any accommodation. However, the bathroom and sheets were clean.

For €15 it is a bargain, especially compared to more recent places we have stayed at on the Camino, its value for money! You get a towel which is a bonus. Kitchen is very clean and well equipped ( small supermarkets closes at 1.30 and reopens later). There is a lovely area to sit outside and loads of space for hanging washing. There is even a small treat/sweet on arrival. Checkin was smooth It’s worth a 5 star in my opinion and I would highly recommend staying here
