Lovely relaxing Parador near the naval docks in Ferrol. Convenient for the centre. Good friendly service as always. We were upgraded to a wonderful suite whicy made our stay very comfortable.
This parador deserves more than its three stars, as the location, building and communal areas are very attractive, the rooms pleasant and well-equipped, and the staff welcoming. The only downside is that the breakfasts could be more elaborate and, above all, the coffee could be better :-)
We had our wedding at the Parador, with many of the guests staying at the hotel as well. It was an outstanding experience from start to finish. We had guests, many of whom didn’t speak Spanish, coming in from multiple parts of the world - families with small children, older people, younger people traveling on their own, people with limited mobility - and they were all taken care of and tended to impeccably. And not only was the staff wildly efficient regarding all event planning aspects - we were particularly impressed at how adept they were at addressing complex dietary restrictions - the hotel itself makes for a great stay. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and the food always outstanding, like, best meals you’ve ever had level. It manages to maintain its own singular identity that’s unique to the region while still having all the comforts of a high quality hotel, and that’s a pretty tall order these days. If you’re going out to explore Ferrol and the surrounding area, it’s a great base of operations if you’re looking for a beautiful environment and on-site competence. Cannot recommend highly enough.
Beautiful historical hotel located by the port. Rooms were very clean and spacious. Great breakfast. Would have given it a Five star but a surly gentleman who constantly rolled his eyes and was unfriendly greeted us and brought us down as the first impression of the hotel and our first Camino. Not welcoming at all.
The parador is in a good state of maintenance. The decoration is in an old style according to the building. My room had a great view of the Naval Military Academy with its ships at harbour. One thing i disliked was how breakfast was served. They try to give a personalised approach to breakfast making the waitress ask for your preference on eggs/bacon,etc The problem is that the poor girl is alone doing everything on the room so she has to rush things and can't give a calm ambiance to your meal. I would much prefer a complete buffet breakfast and the staff could just look if everything is available.
