This is a beautifully renovated farm house up on a ridge above town. I had an attic room which was super spacious and had lovely exposed beams for the ceiling and a stone interior wall… such a nice character in the space and everything was perfectly clean and comfortable as well.. terrific bed and pillows and such a nice shower. A small garden overlooking the town with a little bar for a glass of wine or a coffee. On the other hand, the hospitality and warmth were quite off the mark that day.. it seemed maybe the staff had been caught short handed perhaps but for whatever reason there was no welcoming feeling from the first moment to the last. Still, I would recommend to others
Spectacular stay during our Camino! We arrived here after a long day on the Hospitales route and found a beautiful clean and well equipped room (with an amazing(and so welcome)rain shower). The house was in a very peaceful area and our host was so kind and welcoming to us, despite our poor Spanish skills! Dinner was a delicious home cooked, three course meal that we were so glad for, all served with grace and kindness from our hostess. Breakfast was also perfect! We couldn't have asked for more from our stay. Thank you so much to our amazing hostess!
What a gem of a place. We arrived after a wet day on the Camino and the rooms were warm with heat on! So grateful as arriving wet in other places it’s hard to get warm when you are tired. Delicious, traditional food with much flavour - as another review said, like being welcomed into someone’s home of old and feed whatever they had that day. Hearty and warming. Given with love and a very relaxed, no rush attitude. We could settle in and sort everything else out later. Huge rooms, comfortable chairs. Hot and powerful shower in a huge bathroom. Great views. Very peaceful. Nicely renovated and tasteful. Lovely little touches - bed turned ready with towels and soaps, towel to dry ourselves, newspaper to stuff out wet shoes. Highly recommend for comfort after a tiring day on the Camino.
At the top of a steep hill above the town. It is on the Camino Primitivo, and all the guests were peregrinos when we were there. The group had a good time in the backyard served from the complete bar, then ate supper together family style. We only knew each other from the trail. Two Dutch couples, two American couples, two Germans, and a Dane. The common language was English. The only staff person was monolingual Spanish, but we managed. The rooms are recently renovated and very nice. The meal was tasty and huge.
La Casa de Aldea Araceli is a gorgeous place in a very tranquil country-side setting, right on the Camino Primitivo way! A renovated 1600's house, it has all the great amenities of a modern hotel. The grounds are beautiful and the owner very warm, accommodating and responsive! She works extremely hard and goes out of her way to help pilgrims who show up without reservations find a place for the night. The entire place is sparkling clean! The room, equipped with private bathroom, was spacious, comfortable and beautifully decorated! Whether you are a pilgrim or vacationing in the area, we highly recommend Araceli's place.
