My husband and I recently stayed for 2 nights at La Mesa del Cocinero ahead of several days on the Camino de Santiago. Great location just a short walk from the old town, very clean room and VERY confortable bed. Great value for money. Juan, the manager, was delightful and, apart from the great conversation, we very much enjoyed the food he cooked for us on our first evening. Also truly appreciated his recommendations for local restaurants...we had the best pulpo, and wonderful beef in two different restaurants. We would happily stay here again on a future visit to Lugo.

A simple but recently renovated hostel. The rooms are very clean and charming. The owner is delightful, and despite my need for an "urgent" one-night stay on my way to Vigo, he was very polite, kind, and helpful when he learned the reason. The bathroom and room were spotless. The value for money is a steal these days, especially considering its location, just steps from the city walls and the Old Town. I didn't get a chance to try the restaurant, but judging by how busy it was and the quality of the food, it must be a local favorite. Thank you so much for your hospitality. I've definitely added it to my list for future visits to Lugo. Highly recommended. Thank you.
It was very close to our hotel, which is what led us there. We had the set menu for 15 euros, which was what they offered us when we arrived, around 3 pm. The truth is, both the waitress who served us and the chef were very attentive and made sure everything was to our liking. We loved the raxo (pork loin), which they make fresh with delicious homemade potatoes. Absolutely excellent. The dining room is upstairs, although they also serve tapas in the bar area downstairs.
