5 / 5 Caruma Surf Hostel was THE place to stay for me! I will be back! It is an awesome spot and Luis, the owner, was a fantastic host and brilliant to talk to and with. He and his dog, Alfredo, were very welcoming and friendly.
The hostel has a very cool and relaxing feel and I think it represents Luis very well - genuine and wholesome. The place has great character and big heart, like him!
I had 6 days and 7 nights there while learning to surf and it is a great location for the beach.
Rooms were spacious, clean and had lockers with keys. Communal areas were social, cosy and inviting.
I would recommend Caruma to anyone and Luis's fantastic personality flows brilliantly through the space he has created.
5 / 5 Absolutely loved my stay at this surf hostel! The atmosphere is super relaxed and friendly — perfect for meeting people from all over the world. The staff were welcoming and always ready to help, whether it was booking surf lessons or giving local tips. Rooms were clean, the beds were comfy, and the common areas had a great vibe. Just a short walk to the beach and the surf was amazing. Definitely recommend it to anyone looking for good waves, chill vibes, and unforgettable memories. I’ll be back for sure!
5 / 5 Excellent location. Perfect for pilgrims to Santiago. Good price and friendly staff. Clean bed and hot shower was perfect. Well-equipped kitchen and towels cost 2 euros.
5 / 5 This hostel was wonderful and a real homecoming for those travelling solo or in pairs. There is an extremely social vibe, people talking and hanging, regardless why you're staying there. The large open plan living/dining/kitchen/reception definitely facilitates this. I would go back tomorrow if I could.
It is super close to the beach, metro and amenities such as supermarkets and restaurants so you have everything you need on your doorstep.
You can hear some noise coming into the rooms from the main space at times but it didn't bother me (and I am a light sleeper). If unsure, bring ear plugs. It is a really well priced and located hostel and you can't always have everything perfectly quiet.
The surf safaris will show you how this hostel's existence is driven by a passion for surfing and community. Luis is an absolute gem and more of a surfing guru rather than an instructor.
I know some reviews here mention bed bugs but I haven't noticed anything and neither did any of the other 21 guests during my week long stay.
5 / 5 10 minutes from the airport, clean and warm blankets, as much as the welcome of the owners. Great hostel for surfers in particular!
