Oviedo Pilgrim's Hostel

Clean, very affordable place to sleep if you are a pilgrim. Opens at 16:30 and you need to return by 21h before they close the gate. You can purchase a credential here and the hospitalero writes your information in beautiful script with a fountain pen. Washer and dryer available at a reasonable price. My dormitory had an incredible view of the sunrise over snow-capped Asturian mountains!

The most religion-oriented albergue I’ve seen, which is a nice change, they even have a chapel to pray, but that’s the only positive aspect. I do not recall staying in worse albergues than this. The cleanliness doesn’t match the level expected in a big city. Stains on the mats, bad smell in all the common areas, dirty floors, is all understandable in small villages but in such a big establishment it is unacceptable. The host is there just to let you in and receive payment. Everything is very far apart from each other. Sleeping in darkness but noise from outside very loud. Nothing really horrible but the expectations from a big starting point are just not there.

For the price paid 9€ it was perfect. Good beds, clean and a big dining area.

Stayed 08/06/2025 - Quality Albergue with great facilities and people. My grandma back in the UK passed that night during our stay and the Pilgrims were immensely comforting. They made a special effort. We arrived relatively late and there was a queue that dissipated slowly but there was still aplenty of space for us. In a quieter part of town with a good selection of room sizes and excellent stocked kitchen; we most definitely would stay here again. The centre is a short walk away and mostly downhill with pharmacies and food shopping very close by. We met lots of interesting people.

Great place, excellent price 7.5€, comfortable with everything you need. There is a kitchen with a microwave and fridge, but no stove. 1/3 the price of the more central hostels. Highly recommend.
