I stayed at Albergue Taberna de Agés during my Camino de Santiago pilgrimage and was disappointed with the experience. While the hostel offers fair prices for budget accommodations, the level of service and cleanliness was lacking. The communal bathrooms were not well-maintained and relatively dirty, which might be expected with a high volume of guests but still unpleasant. Additionally, the reception staff were unhelpful and seemed reluctant to assist. Despite having booked and paid for a less crowded room online, my reserved spot was given away because I checked in later than others, and I received no refund. This was particularly frustrating as the online booking was supposed to secure my check-in time after a long day’s walk. Despite its good location and low cost, I cannot recommend this hostel due to these significant issues.
Can i give zero? No mercy from the owner, we arrived on a stormy day. The Owner ask us to stay outside for 2 hour at 5pm with cold wet body. Just until they finished their dinner for checkin. God will see
Staff: very friendly and helpful. Bar/ restaurant: dinner is great - ordered pescado con ensalada, which comes with a drink and coffee/ ice cream. 12€ Room: 20+ bunk beds with not to many bathroom. Room is relatively spacious given it’s not fully occupied. Room is clean & basic. Have a laundry room but unfortunately no drying rack other than chairs.
I am a young woman traveling alone on the Camino, before this albergue I was having a positive and safe experience. At this albergue a man who works there was blowing kisses at me.Once I came back to my bed I was greeted by a love note talking about my appearance and wanting to come to bed with me. I felt super uncomfortable and because it was left with the water bottles that man had left on everyone’s bed I assumed the note was from him. I didn’t go downstairs for the rest of the night. So if you are a young woman traveling alone I would not come here . Not to mention there was no hot water.
A municipal albergue so you should know what to expect. Basic bunkbeds mainly in one room. Cheap basic facilities. No kitchen or lounge. However, this is just about the only place in the area that you can book in advance so high praise for that‐ we were very appreciative
