Istayed here as a pilgrim. The room and bathroom were clean. If you order dinner, you can access the SPA for an additional €15 fee. The SPA includes a simple pool and one sauna room, but after walking so many days in a row, it was a pleasurable experience. They also have a bar with a wide variety of choices and a terrace where you can sit.
I was initially skeptical of the €30 price tag for the room for the night and communal dinner, but then I saw that it came with a free hour in the spa and I was sold. The Albergue felt brand new, with beautiful new bunk beds and showers. The spa had a Turkish bath, a hot/cold shower, water spouts, and more — very much worth getting excited about after a long day on the Camino. The communal dinner was delicious and the staff was very friendly. I am Vegetarian and they were able to get me a vegetarian alternative meal without a problem. I highly recommend this place if you are stoping by Hontonas.
We had such a lovely stay at this beautiful hostel. Arriving in the quaint village of Hontanas after the surprisingly pleasant and peaceful 10km walk through wheat fields peppered with wild flowers and the sound of birds from Hornillo de Camino has been a highlight of our trip so far! We were greeted with big smile and a very warm welcome from the lovely Martina and were shown to the large and very comfortable dorm room! A real sheet and pillowcase were provided and there were some thick blankets available in the room for those who got cold in the night! The communal pilgrims dinner was also wonderful and the creme caramel was the best we’ve had so far! There is also a hydrotherapy pool available for an additional fee for those who’d like to relax after a long walk from Burgos! Thank you for the wonderful hospitality, it will be a hostel we will always remember ☺️
This has been on of my favourite albergues on the Camino so far. It’s located close to the start of town, which is nice after a long walk from Burgos. The staff are super friendly and cooked up a delicious paella for community dinner (chicken and vegetarian options). The shared dorm has a lot of beds but is really big and airy so didn’t feel stuffy overnight. They also have breakfast in the morning. Bonus points for having a spa with sauna and hydrotherapy pool on site!
The best albergue! The staff was friendly and helpful, the beds are comfortable, the food is amazing.
