A little about Estella

Estella, a picturesque town in the Navarre region of Spain, boasts a rich history that dates back to the 11th century. Founded by King Sancho Ramírez of Navarre to accommodate the increasing number of pilgrims on the Camino de Santiago, Estella soon became an important stop due to its strategic location and the hospitality it offered to travelers.

The town is home to several noteworthy historical sites, such as the Church of San Pedro de la Rúa, which was built in the 12th century and features a beautiful Romanesque façade and cloister. Another significant site is the Palace of the Kings of Navarre, a 12th-century Romanesque civil building that once served as a royal residence. Additionally, the Monastery of Irache, located just outside Estella, has been a significant spiritual and cultural center since the 11th century and houses a famous wine fountain that offers free wine to pilgrims.
